Explain your idea in details:
WeConnect is a platform made to satisfy the following objectives: to decrease the rate of unemployment which will in turn reduce the rate of poverty in our community. We want to achieve a community of low or no poverty where everyone is gainfully employed and have enough money to satisfy his/her basic wants. We want to curb the level of unemployment by at least 30%. We also intend to make profit from this app. The app reduces the rigours of moving from place to pace in search of jobs, it obeys social distancing measures during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. All of this will be achieved through the virtual interview interface provided by the app. Unlike other job seeking apps, WeConnect will work for both local and international businesses and also for skilled and unskilled employment. It will also provide a search interface to search for available jobs in your area. It also provides online sending of credentials.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
We would like to alleviate poverty and provide good work and high employment for people. We will also want to digitalize the labour market thereby making demand and supply of labour easier for all. We want to make sure that a reasonable population of the world have jobs that is why the app includes job vacancies for skilled and unskilled labour. We also plan to make the employment process easier and faster. We also want to make job search easier for the youths.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
We plan to make profit from this app when companies pay to post their job vacancies on the app. They also pay for yearly subscription on the app. We can also make profit when this app is downloaded from Google Play Store. The target market for WeConnect is the labour market(specifically the unemployed). WeConnect will help to digitalize the labour market, making job demand and supply easier. Expenses, surely are things a company must face. The expenses we anticipate from this app are: expenses of creating the app, money for necessary gadgets or software and also labour. Our financing sources will come come from donations, personal finance, investors and capital. We will like to start with a budget of about 300,000 to 400,000 naira ( that is from $774-$1032). We will expect to work with the Nigerian Communications Commission, Nigerian Ministry of Science And Technology, Nigerian Ministry of Labour and employment, and the Nigerian Labour Congress.
I am 16 years of age. I a m a student of Dority International Secondary School in Abia State, Nigeria. I and my team members made a team called Trailblazers. The team was made to solve the problems of unemployment and poverty in our community. We observed the following: stress of job search is much, unemployment rate is increasing and high level of poverty. That was our motivation to think of an app like WeConnect. Our team has once qualified for the semifinalists round of the Diamond Challenge, but as of now we have no awards or recognition but we are still working and hoping on getting one.
