Explain your idea in details:
Main objectives is to eliminate wastage in agriculture production and supply chain, improve farm productivity, empower women and smallholder farmers to access resources they need for farming i.e funding, inputs, farming knowledge and skill, a marketplace to sell their produce and finally giving them access to new modern technology on their mobile phones. Now we are doing this through website, whats-app chatb-bots and text messages based approach to help every farmer to be able to access these services and also offer them funding without debt through contract farming methods, where the produce already has a consumer when its still being cultivated or reared Innovation lies in a one stop solution hub for farmers to be able access all the resources they need from inputs, farm technology such as greenhouse or aqua-ponics systems on their mobile phones and cheaply. Wastage is eliminated through efficient supply chain of delivering produce that is already wanted and also up-cycling of unused produce into dried vegies and dried meat and unwanted produce into fertilisers and compost. Thus we eliminate wastage completely. Through precision farming all the fertiliser and pesticides is used accordingly without wastage now every drop applied will be fully utilised through precision farming of monitored farming using senors(soil, moisture, fertility) and drones to deliver a self monitoring farm and ready data
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
My idea is to impact women and smallholder farmers to help them have access to farming tool they direly need at their fingertips. This will improve their profits, productivity in their farming and eliminate poverty. We are more accessible to farmers who do not have access to bank loans that require collateral asset with contract farming any farmer and every farmer can access funding, inputs and other necessary farming tools. We aim to affect 50 000 farmers by year end and all the 7.1 million smallholder farmers in Zimbabwe in 2 years time, with also scaling to other African countries within 5 years with over 30 million smallholder farmers living in poverty and cant access loans or funding ventures. Eliminate wastage in agricultural sector whether its farm produce after harvest or fertiliser during planting all wastage we aim to eliminate it . Over 40% of farmers produce and inputs are lost due to wastage from not being able to find a market to not know in how to use inputs we plan to reduce this from 40% to below 5 % in wastage's through our services that promote precision agriculture through our platforms.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
We have 5 branches to solve these problems:Agro, AgroHow, AgroCart, AgroTeq and AgroLink. Agro is an online platform for these farmers to access debt-free financing through Agro-Contracts. AgroHow gives farmers tailored knowledge about farming, what they want at their fingertips online AgroCart for farmers to sell their produce and buy inputs directly from/to manufactures. AgroTeq gives small farmers access to smart farm technology through community renting schemes. AgroLink is online networking smallholder farmers to list jobs and look for farm jobs. We plan to work with collaborations with agricultural institutions in Zimbabwe that will give us acces to farmers database and farmers most in need. Institution such as the agricultural rural extension service and local seed manufactures suvh as seedco and hardware shops to be able to give farmers ready access to the tools they need we wil partner and give these farmers at wholsesale prices and delivered to their doorstep. We plan to have bootstrap financing initially to get a firm base as we have alredybstarted website development, chatbot development and carrying out our test pilot for 3 branches of Agro. Our team plans to expand and scale through equity financing through venture capitalist institutions.
Im 21 years from Zimbabwe. And im a university student pending graduation. I spent most of my younger years on a farm which which set up my motivation to try to help farmers achieve their true potential as i was a direct witness to farming hardships my mother experienced due to lack of access to neccesary tools. I am usually quite persistent and unwavering to my set goals and it has allowed me to achieve many of my accomploshments and continue to strive to help women and smallholder farmers impprove their lives meaningfully.
