Barrier Free Job Program for People with Disabilities
Explain your idea in details:
The Silicone Pneumatic Hand Rehabilitator is a soft pneumatic glove that we've developed for those with hand disabilities. Our first objective is to provide a safer, user-friendly hand rehabilitation device and job opportunities for handicapped people to reduce inequalities and boost economic growth. We are aiming to reduce the injury rates for workers with hand disabilities, provide a more convenient interface, and manufacture using an eco-friendly system. The second part of our project is to launch a website that list current opening jobs suitable for people with disabilities. This website will be built for the people with different types of disabilities. It will have different categories. We may use data science knowledge and techniques to build such list so that we do not need to search or list jobs manually. The last part is a series of campaigns that advocate the equality in job market. We encourage people with disabilities to step upfront to do speech about their achievement and talents.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
The target consumers are patients with hand disabilities or injuries. With the glove, they can move their hands and fingers with the external force applied by the pneumatic glove through neuron commands sent by the brain. This device is safer and more hand-like than other hard mechanical devices on the market. Most importantly, silicone as the main material of our products can be recycled easily and thus more environmental-friendly, compared to other rehabilitators. Our program thrives on the values of integrity, originality, innovation, humanitarian, environmental protection, societal contributions, harmony, and customer service. The focus of the program is on research and development for medical science and technology.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
The industry of medical pneumatic hand rehabilitators is steady at the moment. Although there are many hand rehabilitation devices on the market, they are usually hard-mechanical pieces that are inconvenient to carry and have the potential to injure the patient further. It also makes it difficult to wear it to complete labor work. However, a soft pneumatic rehabilitation device is easy to carry at all times, and patients will be at lower risk of injury. Our initial customer base would start off small, competing in the pool of hand rehabilitation device. As our program grows, we will have a stronger salesforce built within our operating structure. The program will be able to attract new customers by understanding the needs and trends set by the customers, which will consist of a combination of functionality and aesthetics. With each generation of the glove, the pipeline will need to grow and improve to stay ahead of competitors. Research will be invested in engineering new materials and the mechanics, which will primarily be focusing on improving the neuron connection, motion fluidity, structural safety, and material durability.
