Travel And Share
Explain your idea in details:
Travel and share is an online travel agent startup which trying to accelerate development and improve the economy of the community in villages and underdeveloped areas through the tourism sector by integrating every tourism stakeholder, so that it can maximize the existing potential. These potentials will packaged and promoted in the form of tour packages using a barter system (knowledge, ideas, or skills with quality experience). This barter system will decide the total of tour packages that will obtain by members of Travel and Share (the total of discounts or free travel packages) and it is calculated based on certain criteria. Since the locations offered are villages and underdeveloped areas, this tour package is for potential tourists both domestic and foreign (Timor leste, Malaysia, Cina, Philippines, Singapore) aged eighteen to fifty years old. The villages and underdeveloped areas which are the objects of Travel and Share tour package offers will be categorized into three groups according to the results of the analysis of the research team that has been done. The results of this analysis will update every three months to evaluate the economic development charts of these locations because it is one of the points of product and business evaluation to improve user experience. This group is red (embryonic tourist attractions), yellow (developing tourist attractions) and green (advanced tourist attractions). Besides offering tour packages with a barter system as an innovation in payment methods, travel and share also develops a share feature to offer a higher quality experience for potential tourists by providing opportunities to do volunt tourism and charity activities in villages and underdeveloped areas, because this is to realize the goals of national development agenda, and SGDS especially point eight.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Travel and Share provides smart solutions to accelerate development, and economic improvement of the community in villages and underdeveloped areas in Indonesia, because Travel and Share will facilitate and integrate tourism stakeholders with maximum and better, so that they can explore every potential that exists and help its development through the tourism sector, which is suitable with SGDS point eight that is decent work and economic growth, because the tourism sector is regard as an easy to implement, inexpensive sector and has multiplier effects. Therefore, to evaluate the impact of this products and businesses, we use a measurement of the impact of tourism on economic conditions proposed by Cohen. However, because the scope of products and businesses is only at the villages and underdeveloped areas level, from the eight impact measurement categories, we will only use six categories, including: impact on community income, impact on employment, impact on distribution of benefits, impacts on community ownership and control (economy), impacts on development in general. Before conduct an impact assessments we will analyze the demographic and sociocultural profile (village profile, level of education and age, level of welfare) of local communities, because the demographic character is crucial to the adapt of community change as a result of tourism development (Waseh and Rahmawati, 2015). Then we will analyze the economy of the local communities, what kind of village or underdeveloped areas development effort, and how the local community will prepared as tourism actors. After we get the results of the analysis, we will apply our products and business for a certain period then measure the impact using a simple matrix.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
To implement this business idea, we will use a roadmap system that will implemented during the three-year planning and start with idea validation (analyzing vilages and underdeveloped areas then making a first prototype and testing it to the target market that is potential tourists both domestic and foreign (Timor Leste, Malaysia, China, Philippines, Singapore), product development (developing product features that have launched), market penetration (launching our products to target markets), advanced product development (Evaluation products and businesses and analyzing charts of developments in Travel and Share offer locations), and finally expand markets (expanding markets to Australia) To realize this roadmap we need first capital for validating ideas until first prototypes. This capital will obtained from private funds, fundraising by crownfunding, angel investors, prizes from entrepreneurial competitions, and bussiness incubator. In addition, we will also cooperate with tourism stakeholders such as local communities in villages and underdeveloped areas, business incubators, POKDARWIS, Local Government, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Ministry of Villages, Development of Underdeveloped Areas, and Transmigration, Tourism Academics, HPI, PHRI, GenPI, Traveloka, Indofood, and Telkom. Our business model is selling tour packages in villages and underdeveloped areas by using barter system as an online payment method for potential tourists. We will combine two business models, including franchising (the benefits of this partnership will allocate for travel and accommodation funds for tourists who get free travel packages, or discounts) and subscription (this membership will be the main source of profit for the company). And the funds to help development of villages and underdeveloped areas, will obtain from tourism stakeholder contributions through the share feature offered by Travel and Share.
Khusnul Khotimah is a 20-year-old Indonesian citizen. She is a 5th semester student at the Faculty of Tourism, Udayana University, Bali, majoring in undergraduate tourism destinations. Her hobby in traveling has motivated khusnul to learning about the science of tourism in Bali, because Bali is one of the best tourist destinations in Indonesia. And seeing the potential of tourism in Indonesia is so large and has not been maximized, inspired khusnul to do business in the field of tourism by creating a platform that can help and integrate tourism stakeholders, especially tourists to do tourism activities cheaply even for free and the most important thing is to bring benefits to others (local community). The desire also gets stronger after khusnul success of being the second champion in the 2019 ecoweek national competition with the theme of creative tourism in destination development "millennial tourism towards 4.0 era". Although Khusnul is still a student, she is a person who never gives up before success. This is evidenced by the large number of part-time work done to finance her life in Bali and the competitions that were participated in at both the national and international levels and not all of them brought satisfactory results, but she survived and kept trying to give the best for herself and the people in around her. Therefore, Khusnul believes that she can realize and develop this business idea, because if she is not convinced and is afraid of failure, she will not take the first step by registering and participating in this competition. Even so, she still needs support, and guidance from people who are experts in his field to help realize this business idea because no matter how great she is, she will not achieve anything without others help.
