Explain your idea in details:
Food wastage in India is happening at different levels: from harvesting, transporting, processing, packaging and consuming. My aim is to reduce food wastage at consumption level. Management of waste is a major issue for any restaurants. Unlike 5 or 4-star hotel restaurants, standalone don't have specific garbage-controlled rooms. At the end of the day, the food waste is picked up by the municipality and gets dumped in the land field. The objective is to reduce the food wastage at consumption level. Foodys will work like any other food delivery app, but that doesn't make it like other delivery apps. The aim is to reduce food wastage, so at the end of the day or at the end of breakfast, lunch or dinner time the food left in various restaurants can be sold via Foodys at discounted price of at least 40% or more. The last call food items will not go to waste. Customer Benefits- Customers can place their orders on the app. I believe the most orders will be received at night as mostly leftover food is cleared at that time. Foodyz will deliver the food to customers 24*7. App will be user friendly and customers can avail huge discounts. They will be able to afford the food that they couldn't otherwise.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Nearly 40% of the food produced in India is wasted or lost by different modes. This costs India one lakh crore rupees every year, which also affects our GDP. The food that is thrown away is mostly in edible condition. A platform like Foodyz will not only help restaurants to curb food wastage, but also the people to afford the food that they werent able to before. Left over edible food will be regularly distributed to shelter homes, poor people, orphanages etc. Registering with Foodyz will also be an opportunity for restaurants to fulfil their own CSR by reducing their food wastage. Along with being profitable, it is also important to not forget the main reason for the establishment of Foodyz Foodys will connect with NGOs and shelter homes in the cities where it will establish itself and distribute food items free of cost. By doing this, Foodys aims to cater to the SDGs- Goal 2- Zero Hunger and Goal 10- Reduced Inequalities. As a college student, I always wondered, I wish could eat at that restaurant, The food there is so costly, maybe Ill eat there once I start earning, that place is out of my budget. But with Foodyz, students will not have to think about budget. They will be able to enjoy the food of even 5 star hotels at cheap rates.
