Best Ideas 2020 features all the nominated entries submitted under ‘Submit your Idea’ category. All the entries consist of innovative solutions or propositions for an enterprise that champions the Sustainable Development Goals. They can be on the conceptual, planning, or start-up stage.
Explain your idea in details:
Similar to many educational platforms, Cobellum provides a high-quality education to students who are interested in technology/computer science. However, unlike most platforms, Cobellum aims to achieve this in a more unique way: by making students take challenging interactive quizzes, we hope to educate them in a more engaging way, ensuring that the learning process is personalized and enjoyable for all students, and by allowing students to compete against each other through our 1v1 feature, we hope to spark a competitive flare within students and place them in an environment where they are pushed and motivated by others.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
As a starting point, Cobellum aims to reach our initial goal of helping at least 2000 students in the Southeast Asia Region within the first 6 months. We will measure the success of our students through their ranks, an indicator of their current skill which can go up or down based on their performance and knowledge of computer science. Ranks (Lowest to Highest): - Byte - Kilo - Mega - Giga - Tera - Master - Grandmaster However, as we grow and acquire more resources, we aim to help more students all around the globe. The current milestones we hope to hit are: Before March 2021 - Provide 2000 students in Southeast Asia with a high-quality education. Before July 2021 - Reach 5000 students in Asia with our platform. Before December 2021 - Help 10,000+ students from all around the world.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
As we want to make high-quality education more accessible to students around the world, charging students to use our platform is out the question. Ads work as a source of passive income, but, they clutter up the page and can potentially be a distraction to students. For these reasons, we have chosen to offer an annual subscription to teachers and/or schools that are looking for a personalized learning platform for their students. By purchasing a subscription, teachers will be able to create a leaderboard exclusively for their class, assign custom questions and quizzes to their students, and view how their students are doing through classroom statistics that Cobellum will generate weekly. To cover the cost of running Cobellum (an annual fee of $72), we are going to price our annual subscription at $50. This relatively small fee will allow us to keep Cobellum running and also improve the quality of our platform for students around the world.
My name is Kris and I am a 17-year-old entrepreneur and software developer studying in Bangkok, Thailand. As a student who didn't originally didn't perform well academically, I know full well the importance and value of a good education. In September of 2019, I was honored with the Cambridge Outstanding Learners Award for IGCSE Computer Science, and I fully credit the resources provided to me by my friends and teachers for this achievement. This experience forced me to look back at the difficulties I had trying to find the proper study materials as they were scattered all over the internet. This motivated me to build an all-in-one tool to help future computer science students. As time went by, my ideas and hard work culminated in Cobellum, which I hope to grow into a platform that will keep on supporting future students.
