Trying to reactivate the selling of street food in Peru by Qero
Explain your idea in details:
According to the INEI 72.6% of Peruvians have informal employment. Qero is an emerging company which is looking to increase formal employment in Peru and help every vulnerable person who seeks to have their own business, where their success will be directly proportional to the effort and dedication of each entrepreneur. These vulnerable groups are single mothers, disabled people and anyone with the desire and need to work.To reactivate the sale of breakfasts that are usually found in the Peruvian streets but due to the pandemic are detained and in spite of the reactivation they have not been able to recover due to the negative concept of healthiness that is had with respect to these businesses. We propose a model with a franchise bias (Qero brand) that seeks to generate work through kiosks selling breakfast based on natural and Peruvian ingredients such as quinoa, maca, oats, which are highly valued worldwide for their high nutritional content. First, the franchiser will be provided with a differentiated kiosk with ergonomic measures taking into account the average height of the Peruvian. Secondly, an operations manual will be provided that contains the know-how regarding the preparation of maca, oats, quinoa and other complementary snacks. Thirdly, we will provide support during the municipal licensing stage, as well as consulting and continuous supervision according to the needs of the franchisee in search of its development. Fourthly, Qero will be responsible for contacting the suppliers of raw materials and supplies and ensuring that they meet the minimum requirements of quality and level of confidence. Finally, due to the pandemic caused by Sars-cov2, relevant protocols will be provided during food preparation and customer service,
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
First of all, Qero will have a high nutritional value, since they will be made from andean products such as quinoa, maca, oats and more, which are highly recognized for their nutritional value worldwide. Moreover, Qero products will be able to be part of a healthy daily diet because they will be prepared with high quality standards. Secondly, we will work with SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth. Qero will work with people in vulnerable situations who do not have a formal job. In this way, Qero will sponsor decent work and economic development as well as, provide them the benefits of formal employment such as social security and access to housing and consumer credit Thirdly, we will use natural products and inputs ; furthermore, the packaging used for our work will be biodegradable.Fourthly, SDG 17 Alliances is used to achieve objectives because some of the collaborators are part of a vulnerable population, therefore, alliances and agreements are made with associations that aim to provide social support, such as municipalities and societies who care about protection of children and women. The aim of this work is to position Qero brand as a symbol of confidence in the quality of its products and services. It hopes to be a safe way for all people in vulnerable conditions, who want to achieve their goals and/or dreams. And, for the final consumer, it is a safer (hygienic) option to consume natural, healthy and sustainable breakfasts. In the first year, Qero will impact the lives of more than 50 people classified as vulnerable by generating formal jobs, higher tax revenues for Peruvian municipalities and creating an empowered community. And regarding our indirect clients, we seek to provide health and well-being by guaranteeing the preparation of their food through standardized protocols, which will be continuously monitored.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
For the implementation of our project we have identified five stages to follow. As a first stage, enroll people through different dissemination channels. As a second, continuous monitoring and support during the license process and operating time . In this way, each of the undertakings will be duly formalized. As a third, assign a car with ergonomic proportions according to the measurements of an average Peruvian. This has the following dimensions 0.80, 1.20, 1.80; width, length and height respectively. This will be financed with increasing monthly installments during 12 months, since the progressive growth of the business is taken into account. The monthly fixed charge" 50 nuevos soles", amount that covers the main costs that Qero uses to support the breakfast cart. Likewise, a contract has been established where each relevant point is stipulated in terms of monthly payments and specific clauses in case of non-compliance.As a fourth stage, position ourselves as a trusted brand through a social media marketing plan, perform a segmentation of the target audience focused on people who leave home very early due to their responsibilities and / or functions, that is, workers and students. An approach is chosen highlighting the quality of Peruvian Andean products as differentiation; as well as creating a virtual menu and the ease of placing a virtual order and picking up at the store. As a fifth stage, being able to expand Qero to other regions of Peru as well as being able to enter the international market, being a company that promotes the trade and consumption of Peruvian products with high nutritional value.
We are Qero, an interdisciplinary team of peruvians young university students from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, we are looking to be effective agents of change in our society in a context of uncertainty that our country and the entire world is facing due to the covid 19 ,which certainly have changed our way to live. Because of the Covid-19 situation, the unemployment rate has increased and we have identified one of the most affected fields is ambulatory commerce; which represents an important source of economic income for many families ,mostly poor , just in 2016 achieved to generate more than 3 billion US dollars. At the moment, these families have been affected. Street food is often contaminated by air pollution and stored in very poor health conditions. The ingestion of such foods can cause many diseases such as: hepatitis, cholera, intestinal infections, poisoning or even worse SARS-CoV-2. Qero is a project that, committed to helping this field , we have developed an idea of entrepreneurship so that this entire labor sector can be reactivated . Thanks to Qero, many families can recover their income while consumers can be guaranteed to consume their food at the stalls that have been implemented. In addition, we want to change the concept of food vendors along the way, as it wants to position itself in this niche as a trustworthy family and a synonym of health, where the public can trust the preparation of their food. Qero's purpose is to promote and support entrepreneurship in vulnerable groups: single mothers, during and after the recession caused by SARS-CoV-2.
