Explain your idea in details:
Its a reusable face mask with over-99%-protection against infectious agents. It deactivates the viruses and bacteria using UVC-LEDs lights which in it are proven to be harmless to the body. To ensure a cleaner and safer environment, the textile filter prevents dirt and other coarse particles from entering the breathing space of the wearer. In comparison with the traditional Surgical-Masks and N95, it enables lip-reading making the mask inclusive and accessible. It is light and can be worn for long hours in addition to being durable with an estimated lifespan of over 5-years. Its not only built for the safety of the wearer but also for those around them; the mask filters exhaled breath making it close impossible to infect other patients or health care workers since the mask cleanses the inhaled and the exhaled breath. Its connected with application by near field communication-(NFC) where sensors ask the latest temperature and pulse to keep a check on wearer. The dashboard on the app shows the measures of luminous intensity inside the UVC-LEDs tubes, measuring the efficiency of every single UVC-light. If one tube is unsafe, the user is notified to replace the tube which ensures safety. The mask is also operative with only one tube. This has side effect that only the inhaled air will be disinfected. This is only an emergency solution. With the help of an internally mirrored cylinder and LEDs, the light intensity in the cylinder remains relatively homogeneous. The breathing air is therefore only briefly exposed to UVC-light. Air prepared with viruses is pushed through the cylinder at the end of cylinder its checked whether the disinfection is 100%-successful. Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Epsylon mask is mainly needed by millions doctors and health-care workers as they are the most category that is more likely to be infected by COVID-19 due to the unavailability to the access of high protection they need, furthermore, the number of healthcare workers is relatively high that is 703950 only in Egypt, so that this product will be profitable moreover it will save a lot of lives. The following statistics describe the percentage of infection of doctors and health care workers in some countries, comparing with the total numbers of infections which are about +13% in Egypt, +5% In Pennsylvania, +10.6% In Oklahoma, +20% in Ohio, +70% Rhode Island, and +40% in New York State. In addition to healthcare workers, it will help military services, transportation industry, security workers, patients, and people who need a high protection during COVID-19. Unlike the traditional surgical masks and N95 of fered today, this project is reliable, durable, reusable, inclusive, and can be worn for longer hours. It can reach over-99% of protection from viruses and bacteria, as the reduction always takes place in the log10 area. So, for example, if we need 10mj/cm2 for 90% reduction, then we need 20mj/cm2 reduction. It has estimated lifespan of over 5 years, as the removable UVC light tubes ensure the durability of the mask which makes it also easily replacement. It can be fit on all people faces and doesn't lock loose ends due to silicon. Unlike other masks, it provides lip reading abilities, as it uses transparent PVC technology. Breathing with Epsylon is easier than with conventional ones because the filters has a lower air resistance.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
We made our project to target healthcare workers and the other staff in the pandemic of COVID-19 because they need our product to protect themselves from being infected but what if the pandemic lasts for few months or weeks, will the profit become limited in these weeks of the pandemic or will the business stop and we will lose money? Well, our product after the pandemic will be more profitable than in it as this product can be used not only by healthcare workers and other staff, it can be used in several fields like mining, the industry, petrochemical, pharmaceuticals, fire services, and Oil & Gas fields, as it protects from the dust and the hazardous gases, as a replacement of PAPR masks that could harm the human health while the morning or even take him out, so it will help them a lot, furthermore, this product will still be used by healthcare workers because they treat mostly with airborne viruses patients so that this product will protect these workers from being infected, in conclusion, this business will continue after the pandemic with more customer segments and more profit. Our project will be a replacement for PAPR masks, as peoples are unable to use PAPR mask sue to its high cost which can reach +1000$, its uncomfortable for wearers, and they are unable to use in public areas. For our business model, our key partners are public and private hospitals including but not limited to hospital staff, government of health sector, and LEDs producer and supplier, our key activities are marketing of product, continuous development of technology through research, and troubleshooting for customers, our customer relationship are self-service and hospital or other large sector bulk order, our key resources are Human resources, physical assistants, and intellectual property.
My name is Mohamed Hany. I'm 17 years old. After that I found this problem is hugely dangerous for all countries in the world. During my life, I used to work on projects that help some of the Egypt grand challenges and also world grand challenges with the mission of making the world better place for all of us. After inviting ideas, I used to enter some competitions to help me developing the idea and to be ready to present it to investors and some specialists. I have won and reached the finalist in +7 competitions and hackathons like crisis engineering contest, Z-dare entrepreneurship challenge, relevant hacks, and more.
