Inside My Mind
Explain your idea in details:
The overall goal and main focus point is to normalize the idea of mental health. To do this, a variety of means need to be implemented in places to help end the stigma surrounding this topic. I want to hold interactive meetings at schools for students, where they can receive the information they need to know about their mental health and what it can go through, and the resources available to them in helping them cope with it. This would be done more in developed countries, as they already have a base when it comes to mental health information. I also want to send ambassadors to developing countries, or have them host meetings through an online platform, to deliver the information about the topics surrounding mental health, and the impact that a fluctuating mental health can have in their lives. I really want to stress the importance of taking care of you mental health to these people, so I also want to hold interactive events where they can witness testimonials from people who have experienced, and are comfortable talking about, their struggle with their mental health.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
The impact that I am expecting, and hoping for, is a change in the overall quality of life people live by changing the way that health is viewed. On sustainable development, it will be impacted as the mindsets of people change. When they go from caring about materialistic things to the experiences that life grants you, the strain we leave on the environment will lesson, and people will become happier and live fulfilling lives.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
My plan for implementing this starts right in my own country, Canada, and will hopefully venture out. I will start with my school, and talk to the mental health therapists in town to come converse with students about mental health and its impact on life. I will work with them in making it interesting, because as a kid, I know that many students will zone out as soon as it will seem like an uninviting presentation. I will collaborate with them in making it more child friendly :) After this, I will advise them to spread this presentation to the other schools in my city and to inform other students about this as well. I will co plan this to see the effects that this leaves in my school, and then make decisions accordingly. My plan is for the Inside My Mind idea to eventually spread worldwide, so that mental health differences will not be undermined and people can receive the help they need, but all big things start at home, so it will go one step at a time.
I am a 15 year old living in Canada, and a major cause of conversations here is that while we are provided for, we are safe, we have everything we want, why cant we be happy? Why is it that you can not appreciate what you have? Why are you sad all the time? You have everything you could ever have, people would die to be in your shoes. And yes, while we are provided for physically, we are deprived mentally, and that affects your overall life. You could be living in the most pishposh environment, everything you could have ever wanted with you, and you could have an unstable mental health that would deny you from appreciating your life. Or you could be living in a trashy environment, but with an amazing mind set about life, and be mentally stable, and because of that, live a fulfilling and enjoyable life. The way that the situation was regarding mental health made me want to do something to help change it, especially because I realized that by living here, I still have it easy when it comes to mental health, because we converse about the stigmas surrounding this topic. In many countries, mental health is not a real thing, and having troubles relating to it does not exist, and I want to help the people affected by the effects of a unhealthy mental state, while helping the community learn to provide support to those individuals. Besides, in the end, you never know whats inside my mind.
