The accommodation has been a challenge for many communities not only in Kenya but worldwide despite it being a basic need. Many families share a shelter with extended family. There is no privacy and a lot of them become sick often. Some sicknesses are spread through infections and with the high number of people living in a congested house; it becomes very hard to control the infections. Poor sanitation has been a major problem leading to different diseases outbreak. The factor that is leading to this is the high cost of accommodation. Most of the families survive with below $10 a day thus unable to meet high living standards. Affordable Accommodation for Community is to acquire land and construct medium-class affordable accommodation for community earning little wages. We fill the void in the locals with affordable housing market by providing with the necessary basic amenities like water, sewer system, internet, security, clean and well cared for affordable homes to the underprivileged community. The property and the community selection process is based on the long term. In the process of applying for tenancy; a deep background check is done to each family member. Sub renting will not be allowed to avoid others sub renting the accommodation at the market value or higher making a profit out of it. Affordable Accommodation for Community will be engaged in the residential investment management and will act as the acquisition & restoration manager and property manager. Its main focus will be on acquiring land, undervalued or depressed properties, improving, and making them affordable to the community.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
OVERALL; the affordability of accommodation has a direct impact on the well been of the community and their consumer spending. They will be able to afford other basic needs as well as to educate their siblings. EMPLOYMENT; Construction produces jobs both for skilled and unskilled graduates. Ranging from architects to site engineers to surveyors, town planners, project managers, artisans and labourers all can be engaged in the construction which will, in turn, add to the GDP of such economy. After the construction is over, the manpower will be reduced while others will be working as maintainers, security, cleaners and amenities providers providing life hood to their families. GOOD HEALTH; there will be proper sanitation in-built to each unit connected directly to the sewer line. There will also be clean water available for domestic use. Each family will have its toilet and washrooms. In-case of a disease outbreak or infection, it will be easier to diagnose and control it. ECONOMIC GROWTH; Accommodation is an important part of the economy and is accountable for an extensive part of its development. In general, its a fact that more money has been made in the accommodation sector alone. Accommodation sector has strong connections with various industries such as tiles, paints, fittings & fixtures, cement & steel to mention a few, so prosperity in this sector means wealth for all other sectors, thereby positively impacting such countrys economic growth.

Affordable Accommodation for Community goal is fully committed to making its affordability accommodation a long term success with plans for expansion. It is this dedication and drives which will set apart from commitment and working hard in a smart way. FOR THE PROJECT TO BE A FUTURE KEY TO SUCCESS, THE FOLLOWING WILL BE IMPLEMENTED; Generate cash flow from rental income sufficient to cover expenses and provide funding for new property acquisitions but fast and for most paying off any loans if acquired during deficient. Completion of renovation or rehabilitation work within the scheduled time and the budgeted amount. The management of Affordable Accommodation for Community will personally manage the accommodations and not rely on an outside management team. This way, all repairs will be addressed immediately, and the accounting ledger and also any other records will be kept current and up to date. The community will be offered a chance to be heard; there will be close contact with the community and the management. Therefore the tenants will be communicating with the management at a convenient time regarding any issues or problems that they are facing either individual or as a community. The management will encourage the community to form saving groups and to engage in activities that will add value to their life. There will be seminars that will be taking place often to empower the community with life survival skills.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
I am Francis Muriithi Mugo a Kenyan male of 32 years old residing in Nairobi, Kenya. After completing my Tourism Diploma course in 2008, I got a job as a waiter. The basic living expenses were so high thus I couldn't manage to rent a house. Therefore I was forced to live with my parents shearing one-bedroom house with my siblings. I was a grown-up male adult been pissed off with this situation. Due to deep thoughts on how I could change my life, I come up with an idea of "AFFORDABLE ACCOMMODATION FOR COMMUNITY". That become among my most prioritized dream. After three years of working (2009 to 2012) as a waiter in Kenya and Qatar, I started doing business and working toward my dream. Housing demand worldwide increases day by day making accommodation in demand all around the clock. The demand for a piece of land has been on the rise making its price to increase. Currently, the real estate investors are smiling their way to the bank without caring for the community that earns $10 a day. With the increasing demand for accommodation, I was pressured towards my dream. I bought a piece of land facilitated by a local church and later to be subdivided to each member, only those who were on the project. The process took long more than I expected. I decided to buy another piece of land as an individual. After five years I managed to buy a piece of a land approximately two-hour drive from Nairobi city. I have accomplished my first step towards achieving my dream "AFFORDABLE ACCOMMODATION FOR COMMUNITY". Currently, I am working hard and smart to construct affordable house units for the community.
