Explain your project in details:
The project seeks to harmonize the relation of individuals with the environment and promote the sustainable use of natural resources throughout the whole agricultural process. By integrating these actions with initiatives that incentivize knowledge and awareness, it is possible to achieve environmental goals that significantly impact the conservation of ecosystems and society as a whole. One of the main challenges is the awareness of people about the correct handling of the soil and the preservation of the environment. To overcome this challenge, our project has most of its activities in the online environment. Through posts that deal with environmental issues and seek to create a sustainable culture in people, we can reach a large number of people, who would otherwise be very difficult to be affected. Besides, the project produces its podcast, called Green Cast. With such activity, we seek to bring to people in a more relaxed way the most relevant information on the subject, with themes that range from news of the global scenario involving the environment to recommendations of films that can help them to be more conscious citizens, thus building a greater relationship between them and the environment. Finally, the project has already produced about four completely free educational primers, three of which are on our website, free for everyone who wants to learn more about the subject and create a healthier and more conscious life routine.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
Most of the Brazilian municipalities face environmental problems, and among the main ones are the burning, deforestation and silting of rivers. However, this is not the only problem. About 32 million Brazilians go hungry, and another 65 million people do not ingest the minimum daily amount of calories. Moreover, climate change intensifies misery. In most cases, the people who suffer most from the consequences of natural disasters and extreme weather events are the poor. It is practically impossible to decouple environmental preservation from the poor quality of life of millions of people. Therefore, perform a social work that presents environmental preservation discussions is essential. With its short lifespan, the project carried out visits to public schools, bringing some knowledge about the environmental issue, disseminating information about the initiative, and collecting signatures to support the project. In total, we have already reached more than a thousand students. One of our most memorable moments was when we visited Koppert Biological Systems' headquarters last year since it was one of our main inspirations. There, we learned more about the company production processes, how biological pest control works, and how to apply their knowledge in our activities. Finally, we have created several educational materials completely free of charge, which are distributed on our website through educational primers, or through our social networks, where we talk about environmental issues and try to encourage our audience to become more environmentally responsible.
Sustainability and future plans
We believe that the communities that will be most affected by our mission are the young people enrolled in public and private schools, which we seek to raise awareness about environmental issues and create in them a culture of sustainability. Social institutions in partner municipalities will also be impacted, by creating a bond by which we will be able to change the general view of them and the people living in it on the importance of sustainability. Finally, low-income families, since these people have minor access to information and little contact with environmental issues. To strengthen and disseminate the initiative, research will be carried out on potential partners, either to buy food or to support the project, seeking greater recognition and financial maintenance of the enterprise. For the future, we expect the project to become an inspiration for many other individuals interested in the field of social entrepreneurship, but above all, we hope that after the pandemic we are facing, the project becomes something of great help in the lives of people most in need, which we know will be considerably impacted by this crisis.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
My name is Vinicius, 17 years old, and I would like to share a bit of my story. Recently, I have experienced accomplishments that have contributed profoundly to the strengthening of my courage and engagement in guidelines that involve people and the environment. That made me see how the joint effort can generate incredible effects. Courage and initiative made me see opportunities where some haven't. There are no significant changes if we don't take actions. One of these achievements was my direct contribution to the creation and approval of municipal law in my city, which aims to promote the adoption and awareness of the bicycle as a practical and sustainable mean of transport. After a few days of joint efforts with my teacher, we wrote the law and approved it. This achievement made me believe in the power of initiative, principally when it aims at a greater good. Though, something that extraordinarily contributed to my formation as a person was the Project Study in Russia. A group of colleagues in a school I study had the idea of creating a project that attempted to break paradigms about the Russian culture while spreading the country's higher education. The project took on unimaginable proportions. The Russian Consulate in Brazil and the agency Rossotrudnichestvo recognized the project and signed the initiative. Lately, we launched a book about the project, where we talked about our achievements and challenges on the path to success. The project showed us the impact that a social measure can have and the importance that simple actions with deep purpose have. I continually seek to produce a positive impact on society, and the Future Seeds project is one of those initiatives that I've noticed can contribute positively not only to people but also to the environment.
