Tunzwa is a health information hub platform in line with the sustainable development goals, ensuring healthy lives and promote well-being of all ages. It is available on web, android and USSD platform that allow its users to access the following: 1.Through utilization of google maps API, the app shows health facilities near the user, provides path and alternative routes to the facilities. 2.Tracking and finding private and public hospitals within your locality. 3. Available number of beds. 4. The various routes to the selected hospitals from your current location The web and mobile app will have a QnA chat bot which will assist in answering prevalent questions from the user. It will provide information on the distribution of medical centers and their performance. This will enable the government and medical bodies enhance distribution of resources sufficiently in health centers. Therefore, leading to the achievement of the SDG 3 of Good Health and well-being which targets to reduce the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100,000 live births. Aside from health queries, the bot allows users to book appointments with medical professionals, get links on where to purchase a particular health product. Every year over 50% of maternal patients suffer due to lack of information about resources available at health centers, in this case, for maternity services that provides real time digital content on availability of maternal resources at health centers. Low income patients find it difficult to obtain digital content due to communication gaps therefore, leading to increased pregnancy risks. Shortage and information on number of beds is not only prevalent in developing countries, but also a challenge in developed countries.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
Tunzwa targets maternal patients. Every minute 2 Kenyans are born. We are also targeting the hospital doctors and nurses to provide smooth transition with the expectant mothers in cases of referrals to other hospitals due to full bed occupation. i.e. during emergencies like road accidents. We are also targeting mothers who find themselves in situations of having pre-mature babies by enabling them access information on hospitals having a nursery wing. Provide information on hospitals having nursery for pre-mature babies. Kenya is among top 15 countries with the highest rate of pre-mature babies. Most of these preterm babies are born with health complications that lead to the death of at least 14,000 babies annually. The mortality rates for mothers, newborns, young children and adolescents could rise in the next six months due to decline in efficient health services, a global health experts panel has revealed. The Independent Accountability Panel for Every Woman Every Child (IAP) under United Nations Secretary-General has said that groups are losing 20 percent of their health and social services due to the Covid-19 pandemic, that is now worsening existing health care challenges. The panel is projecting 12,200 to 56,700 additional maternal deaths could occur in six months in some lower middle income countries, with increases of 8.3 to 38.6 percent in maternal deaths per month. These projections also show a potential 253,500 to 1,157 million additional child deaths in the half-year period, with an increase of 9·8 to 44·7 percent in under-five child deaths per month. This has been attributed to disruptions of the health systems and decreased access to food tied to the existing Covid-19 pandemic. Through the use of Google Maps API Tunzwa platform will allow users to map health centers, shops for specific health products from pharmacies or health and nutrition shops and make payments for medicine purchases.
Sustainability and future plans
Marketing Plan We are planning to embrace digital content marketing strategies like video shooting on performing first aid procedures, informative nutrition on foetus development to inception. Sales Plan Tunzwa app will be available in app store for easy access to people. We will incorporate advertising procedures to spread the message of the app presence. Henceforward, execute the app to hospitals regionally as we expand nationally until internationally. Tunzwa will obtain most of its revenue from internet data plan as used i.e WhatsApp, e-mail and browsing. Forecast Tunzwa plans to attain revenues of up to KES 200M by 2030. Our long-term goal is to unlock access to information on available resources in health centres for 20M+ people (<$5/day) by 2030. Tunzwa app to disrupt the health industry. i.e., currently maternal patients have to visit hospitals without prior info on resources available which is the predominant method. Tunzwa is made up of a team of four namely; Clinton Ongeri - Content and Research Lead ; Joseph Kuria - Mobile, web and gaming application developer ; Mary Mwai - Web and mobile developer ; Christine Wanjiru - Web and mobile developer. Each member has a role and task to perform in the implementation of Tunzwa.
