Filipino Family Teampreneur
Published on June 1, 2021 um 11:53
Explain your idea in details:
One of my ultimate desires is to help Filipino micro entrepreneurs. Since birth, our family was engaged in micro enterprises. We have been into rice trading, general merchandise store and eatery businesses. These were the sources of our livelihood and funds for education. Thanks to my enterprising parents, who work hard to give us decent life. To harness the team spirit of the Filipino family in entrepreneurship and to engage each member of the family to be a team player are the objectives of Teampreneur. A micro enterprise owner cannot do everything alone. The owner needs the support and effort of his family members. Filipino heritage was exemplified by courage, resiliency, and strong camaraderie. Families are closely knitted. These Filipino values connect the team spirit. Filipino team spirit is not only confine at home. It is very much portrayed in that indigenous belief of bayanihan. Despite some members of the family are abroad as OFW the advent of technology provides more access for the families to keep the bonding. Team spirit is not bounded by distance among Filipinos. The family as a team is seamlessly connected and active through virtual engagement. Every team has a game plan. Employees are the prime movers of any business. Good relations between and among employees are crucial to business. Family members must consider themselves not just owners of business but as employees who are driven and motivated. Each member of the family must understand the needs of each one. Every member counts. The pandemic does not stop anybody from becoming part of the solution using whatever resources they have. The innovative solutions that Teampreneur plans to are the following: maintaining a site on the internet for Teampreneur purposes; and sending to a thousand and one Filipino micro entrepreneurs the learning materials.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Micro entrepreneurs may have learned the tricks and trades of their businesses, but they also have needs other than daily sustenance. They must understand that their enterprises are not only sources of household income. Their enterprises may also bring sense of pride to their families and communities. Teampreneur will provide the learning materials for these Filipino micro entrepreneurs to encourage them to appreciate the values of family team spirit as a key factor in the day-to-day operation of their enterprises. Initially, Teampreneur materials were sent to around fifty micro entrepreneurs around the Philippines. So far, these two learning materials are educational materials about Filipino values illustrated and presented in PDF document. Other learning materials which are in the process are in the form of newsletter, research update, and government latest laws and regulations. All these materials are free of charge. Teampreneur plans develop at least 3-4 materials every month to be promoted and disseminated virtually. To have a powerful community of micro enterprises, owners must be equipped with the right knowledge and skills. Teampreneur will seek to create and maintain its own website to post all its materials and in order to create a trend or a bandwagon effect among micro entrepreneurs. Filipino Family Teampreneur will continue to do these pursuits until we see more Filipino micro entrepreneurs experiencing decent work and able to provide local employment and revenue to local government. Little by little, brick by brick, the good things will come out through hard work and patience.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Filipino Family Teampreneur is a voluntary work, which provides free educational materials about management and operations of micro enterprises within the context of Filipino values of team spirit. It is borne out of a research study conducted in 2014, which was entitled: A Study on the Management Styles among MSME Owners in the City of Manila. It was published in the year 2020. The results of the study were used as one of the references of students who took up Leadership Management and Decision-Making course in a University in Manila. All the materials developed out of this study were disseminated in various social media sites free of charge. The author plans to develop more learning materials in the form of online newsletter and learning modules which will be distributed to any interested individuals or groups who wants to acquire basic knowledge about Teampreneur. As a voluntary project, financing is mostly shouldered by the research author. There are plans in the future to collaborate with lik-minded micro enterprises associations and organization through seminars and workshops. The author wants to make this as his passion to make a difference and make it into something which will help micro enterprise owners knowledge-wise and economically better off.
