HealthAlert (App that prevents spread of infectious disease and facilities healthcare access)

Published on July 15, 2021 um 09:08

Explain your idea in details:

The first and main objective of HealthAlert is to deliver efficient health care to everyone around the world by allowing people to access reliable information about potential outbreaks in their current location. In order to achieve this objective, our users play an important role in protecting their own and other peoples health. Every user would be able to anonymously confirm whether they are diagnosed in HealthAlert every day. Other users would be able to see anyone who is diagnosed as a red dot on a regional map. This would allow our users to access the most accurate diagnostic information. We recognize that it is likely many would forget to complete the diagnosis survey; therefore, in order to maintain the accuracy of the information, a reminder would be sent to the users every day to remind them to complete the survey. The app will also predict and update outbreaks and deaths in all countries every 6 hours according to the government websites or news agencies. Furthermore, if a person is diagnosed with the disease, contact tracing would begin immediately by sending a notification to everyone who has been to the same area in a time interval that depends on the spread rate of the specific disease. We believe that this could prevent the spread of the disease more efficiently, as it notifies people that they are potentially infected before they feel any symptoms and spreads it to others. Additionally, users would always be able to access reliable information about the disease and the accessibility of their nearest hospital. This would allow them to save their lives if an emergency appears to happen. Overall, we hope that HealthAlert can help people to protect their health in the very first place and reduce the disease-killing rates globally.

Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development

The health condition of our users is always our priority; therefore, our first target is to reduce the number of diagnoses and deaths as more people use HealthAlert. We would be able to measure the success of this goal through a couple of different methods. First, we can track the number of diagnosed cases and deaths every month and compare it to the following month to see if the number decreased. If the data is reduced, our app would be considered as successful because it would be able to control the spread of infectious diseases. If the number did not increase, our app would try to implement some new innovative approaches based on the specific disease. For example, if the Covid cases did not decrease for a month, our app would develop new features such as reminders for people to wear their masks and wash their hands. HealthAlert would also send notifications directly to the users about outbreaks around their location without the users actually opening the app. Aside from this target, we also hope that our users can be more knowledgeable about the potential health risks around them, because we believe that people are at the greatest advantage in protecting themselves and their loved ones when they are educated about the deadly consequences of the disease. The success of this goal can be reflected through the decrease in the diagnosis and death rates. HealthAlert will also be able to send out surveys that ask the users their experience in using the app. If they have any suggestions in making the app better, we will definitely take them into consideration in order to improve HealthAlert. In the end, we hope that HealthAlert can be a beneficial app to everyone in order to improve or protect their health.

Plans for implementation and sustainability

Ideally, HealthAlert would be an app that can be accessed on any kind of phone. We have to achieve this by collaborating with different companies. If the app is able to be launched, we hope that we can work with todays leading technology companies such as Apple and Android. We will also work with companies that are not as advanced. This ensures that people who use a less advanced phone can also utilize HealthAlert to benefit their health. Furthermore, we would also have to work with companies that are knowledgeable at designing and developing apps. HealthAlert requires high technology and large information databases or updates in order for our users to feel the app is trustable and their health is benefitted by using this app. Additionally, as mentioned in the previous question, HealthAlert also needs to collaborate with various news agencies and governments in order to provide the most valid information to our users. Aside from discussing our potential collaborators, our financing source is also crucial to mention. By first starting our app, we will try to raise money in person and later by promoting our idea on social media platforms. As our app starts off, we can further develop our app to charge our users in order to make money or further develop our app. We will charge money for advanced settings such as sending more reminders. In terms of the business model, it would be an app that is accessible for all people around the world. The app would have a login page and a home page. Under the home page, there would be many subtitles that redirect the user to specific pages. This would keep our app organized and allow our users to utilize it more easily.

Your profile

My name is Selina Tao and I live in Vancouver, Canada. I am a Grade 10 student who is attending York House School. I am interested in many classes at school. I am fascinated by Biology because it gives me a deep understanding of the complexity of living things and how they interact with each other. Biology covers small things such as a cell to important topics such as threats to an ecosystem; therefore, it is intriguing for me to learn about various information about each distinct organism and the beauty of nature around us. Diseases are certainly related to Biology, as it is affecting every one of us on Earth. One of my intentions to participate in this program is that I want to have a better understanding of diseases that are around us in terms of how or why it is so deadly. I believe that this could be a great opportunity for me to have a better understanding of the crisis that is happening in our world. Outside of school, I have won the Gold reward of the UK Biology contest 2021. This contest was a memorable process for me because it allowed me to constantly push myself and I gained more information about Biology. Aside from my academic interests, art is also my passion. I started drawing when I was very young, and I attend art class on a regular basis. I designed posters and school assignments before and have won the Gold reward of Strength During A Pandemic art contest in school. I am now venturing into bigger projects and this is the reason why I decided to join this program and design HealthAlertin the future. Overall, I wish to gain the opportunity to create something more meaningful through this worldwide entrepreneurship program.
