Explain your idea in details:
The design of the proposed vertical axis wind turbine can be seen in the attached figures.The dimensions shown correspond to the manufactured model. The model was made from cardboard and two 0.5 L beer cans. The height of the turbine can be essentially arbitrary, but is limited by the strength of the blades. In practice, the height could be from one to two diameters. This simple construction can be made in any workshop equipped with a ripper and welding apparatus. The cylindrical shell of a suitable barrel is cut vertically into three equal parts, one part being used as part A, the other being folded in half to form part B. If folding is difficult, it shall be cut vertically in half, folded into a B shape and welded. The two barrels can be to make three split blades. If we want to optimize the shape of the turbine, we can change the radii and lengths of the A and B arcs and the distance MN´´. The main disadvantages of this solution are the higher weight, the large drag area that stresses the vertical shaft and the impossibility of reducing this resistance at high wind speeds. The weight can be reduced by using plastics and modern composite materials. As I mentioned when I submitted the idea, this turbine can be used as a starter turbine for a Darrieus turbine or in using water currents. I have no plans in that direction. I have no experience in business and at my age I don't have the strength to start in this field.
I am 70 years old, I studied physical chemistry at the faculty of natural science, but I have basically not worked in this field. About half of my professional life I worked as a programmer, the other half as an economist with a focus on budgets and calculations. I have been retired since the age of 63 and have pursued my hobbies of science, technology and inventing. Unfortunately only to the idea stage as I don't have the resources, capabilities or connections to test the functionality and quality of these ideas. Since I don't have many years left to live, I decided to submit these ideas to this contest where they can serve directly or as inspiration for other solutions. These ideas are mainly in the area of energy conversion.
