Fighting Against Natural Threats Amongst Humans (FANTAH) project

Published on September 13, 2021 um 08:27

Explain your idea in details:

This is a project in which we will use youth groups(we will consider gender balance) around Blantyre where we will mobilize and enlighten them about our business proposal of establishing tree forests in their respective communities by using fast growing and maturing tree seedlings. Unlike most companies or organizations doing tree planting , our initiative will not only conserve nature but it will also be generating income. We will involve stakeholders like the District Commissioner and his departments namely youth and environmental departments not forgetting Traditional leaders. Once the youth groups embrace the idea then we will conduct a climate Change sensitization in youth communities where we will ask for pieces of community land from the traditional leaders. Then we will carry out training workshop on forest management and provide them with seedlings, simple handy tools which will replace heavy forest machinery and general guide book. All this will run in 1year but forest management will continue until trees are ready which is from 4-7 years to come. Upon growing and maturing, our Organization will find companies and individual customers who will be offered unbeatable lower prices. We will have an agreement signed at the beginning of it all that our NGO will be getting 30% of its profits and benefits from tree products. We already have youth groups who are willing to embrace the idea, those who were taking part in our previous projects incase the other groups turn down the deal. We will also opt to selling the seedlings to organizations directly from our nursery beds in case both youth groups turn down our proposal. Our mission is is to conserving the environment , renewable resources and reducing the impact of climate change through youth initiative at a profit .

Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development

* Job creation FANTAH project will create up to 150 jobs to the youth in the 4 zone groups and 2 community based organizations. Each zone is comprised of 30 members. If the all the 4 zones adopt our preposition then we will have 120 youths working towards FANTAH project. Every Community based organization is comprised of 15 members. Assume all the 2 CBOs have complied to work with us, then we will have 30 individuals working in FANTAH project. This will make the total of 150 youth impacted with FANTAH project. * Providing and preserving renewable resources. We have above 100 thousand seedlings in our main nursery which means by the end of this project we would plant more than 90 thousand seedlings. Thats providing a 90 thousand trees in the country as energy source. To make sure that our this energy source is sustainable we will adopt cut 1 and plant 2 policy. * Reduction of climate change related effects. After the successful of FANTAH project we project the decrease in climate change related effects like floods by 5% in 5 to 7 years to come in the city of Blantyre there by improving the environmental aspect of the city and impacting 967,110 population of Blantyre (population stat-world population data). * Promotion of social inclusion. The project is gender sensitive and it will promote gender balance and gender equality. Our policy is that all the youth zone groups and community based organizations should comprise of 40-50 % of girls and women. If we lobby this policy and succeed in 50/50 gender balance, then the project will also create jobs to 75 females both girls and women. The project will also promote social inclusion through the involvement of vulnerable groups within the groups.

Plans for implementation and sustainability

FANTAH project business has adopted the Manufacturer Model. We will provide the raw materials like seedlings, equipments and knowledge. The youth will include raw materials like man power which in return will produce trees that will be used for different purposes. As a youth led organization we do most of our work involuntarily and projects are run through grants and donations. Sometimes we do organize fundraising to raise money for a particular proposed project or program. This is the reason why we have decided to venture into business to at least have a source of income to support our projects but again we couldnt find sponsors. We waited for opportunity like this to take our ideas to the next level and find income to lift our fellow youth through our future projects. We have collaborated with the District council especially the Youth development officer and the district environmental officer in Blantyre city. Last year we collaborated with organization called Global Changemakers which provided us with a start up income to start the first phase of this project. To ensure sustainability of the project we plan to use simple technology like the using of handy forest tools instead of expensive machinery. Most of our staff members work on voluntary basis. This will sustain the project economically by saving the money we could have used to pay the staff members. We are using groups from zones in which its members comes from the communities so involving them directly will create the sense of ownership which will lead to social sustainability. The project will also ensure the balance of ecosystem by providing habitat for animals which in turn will provide dung as manure Above all the trees will provide us and animals with Oxygen and we will provide Carbon dioxide for both survival.

There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve >> The fear of failure. So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable. https://www.entrepreneurship-campus.org/ideas/32/21472/

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. Success is not final, failure is not fatal, It is the courage to continue that counts.

Your idea is very smart and practical.
