CHIAAGRO RABBITRY is a section in the Animal husbandry department of Chiatech Entrepreneurship and Vocational Training Center. The goal is to specialize in breeding, multiplication and marketing of live rabbit, rabbit meat and other by-products. Specifically, the objectives are to: secure and purchase additional land to meet our requirements , complete all breeding and grower housing facilities within 3months after property registration and transfer, have completed building of the sewerage and black water drainage system as well as the manure handling facility by the time the last stock shed is completed, complete fencing before the first breeding stock is moved to the unit, achieve our first marketing sales of rabbits by middle of December, 2022, with continuous weekly sales thereafter throughout the festive holidays up May, 2023. Again, we will ensure that by the end of the first year (May, 2023) of operations that all aspects towards the farming activity are in place to reduce costs and improve profitability and ensure that all employed staff are or have been trained and received their respective training completed, to meet the operational standards required to achieve productivity and profit. Key activities include: Breeding, Training, Feed Production, Raising/Cultivating, Harvesting Slaughtering and Processing, training and Marketing. We are set to adopt modern rabbit breeding techniques as well as meat processing/packaging techniques that meet both domestic and export standards. Our local restaurant; CHIATECH GARDEN will specialize in preparation of special rabbit meat dishes for sale. We will integrate suitable animals like goats, poultry, fishery, pigs, grass cutters and cow as well as sensitive crops/plants to maximize integration benefits.

CHIAAGRO RABBITRY offers meat of good sensorial and nutritional qualities, while being profitable and allowing a good quality of life and work for the stockbreeders. Rabbits are excellent source of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements: High in vitamins B3 and B12, phosphorus, potassium and selenium. The concept will help people of all age categories to access healthy white meat at affordable cost for their good health and wellbeing. We must be sustainable. One of the main bases of this sustainability is the profitability of our farms, in which improvement is achieved through the technical and economic management while also satisfying our customers/clients. These managements imply collecting production and economic data, calculating indexes, comparing results with those obtained in other farms, making decisions, and evaluating the consequences of changes.

As a practical entrepreneur with theoretical authority and digital sensitivity in ICT, Animal husbandry and agro-allied processing, my center is motivated by the SDG goal 2: Zero Hunger and Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being to creatively mobilize resources for establishment of an integrated rabbit-crops/plants-other suitable animals farm to tap into the abundant vegetal covers suitable for animal breeding in the Benue valley, Nigeria. I strife to create a sustainable white meat production system to help people of all age categories to access healthy white meat at affordable cost for their good health and wellbeing. I hope to process the meat based on modern techniques for domestic and international consumption. The founder; Chiatech Entrepreneurship and Vocational Training Center was one of the national winners for Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YouWin) 2017. Also, CHIAAGRO Rabbitry was recognized in 2020 by the Department of Wild Life and Range Management, College of Forestry, Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Nigeria as best research farm the Middle belt region of Nigeria.
