JANGIWÂT (BACK TO SCHOOL)

Stage of Idea conceptual stage

Explain your idea in details:

Jangiwât is inspired by the EDUCATION FOR ALL style, which is a global movement created by UNESCO with the objective of meeting the educational needs of children, young people, and adults in disadvantaged situations regardless of their country, nationality, gender, race, creed, and religion. The context is justified by the intervention of Mercyships for a few months in Senegal and for a period of ten months, it is a hospital ship that helps the poorest populations access quality health care free of charge. But these people have long been stigmatized in society because of their abnormalities which made them divorced from school. It is in this sense that the targeting of Jangiwât is relevant to these populations. Indeed, after recovering their social dignity which they thought they had lost, these people are often confronted with the problem of reintegration; by emphasizing their education and training Jangiwât can facilitate this integration. Beyond the patients treated by Mercyships, we would like to extend our intervention to anyone suffering from physical abnormalities and having school difficulties, whatever their level of education.

These people are left behind in the education system and this can constitute a blockage to starting an activity or in the case of children integrating alongside their peers.

Plans for implementation and sustainability

The main driver that will drain our intervention is literacy because most of these people and especially children can neither read nor write because they have never been to school or have dropped out. Jangiwât can easily count on the other members of the Day crew of Mercyships as human resources. In addition, we will need educational materials with very playful literacy kits that will allow them to quickly assimilate the course
