Traveling Library
Project Details
Explain your idea in details:
Traveling Library is literally a traveling library which travels for the children who do not have a library around their home. It is made of a vehicle, especially a truck or a bus carrying books in its cargo bed or inside it. Children from isolated areas are not able to read enough books because they do not have a good condition to build a library. If a library visits the children, they can read books without having an adventure of looking for a library, and in everywhere they want to read. The system is like this: when a traveling library visits a town carrying many books, children can pick out any books they want and read them freely until the given due date. When the library visits again on a due date, children will return their books, and lend some new books. As the children patronize the traveling libraries, governments may help the villages to build immovable libraries with much better conditions.

We can meet both goal 4, quality education and goal 10, reduced inequalities. Through a traveling library, children will be able to experience various readings from various books and will not be educationally discriminated against anymore. Furthermore, more libraries can be built. The children from all over the world will have a chance to participate in developing the world.

We need to gather several trucks or buses, drivers, librarians, and lots of books, by cooperating with municipal libraries or bookstores. Then, after we are ready to travel, we have to look for villages where children are having trouble in being educated. The children may enjoy reading books, so it will be enough for children to read books freely if the number of limited books is about 4 and the time limit is about 7 days.

My name is Eunsol Lee. I am 17 years old, 1st grade of high school in South Korea. I have spent all of my life in South Korea with any lack of education. There were a lot of books around me, even though I havent read all of them. I also went to school, even private education institutes at the same time. Like these, in my youth, I was educated quite well. However, as there are many children who are different from me, I wanted to reduce this gap. To reduce educational inequality gradually, I thought the first step should be providing lots of books. I want others to read enough books in place of me who didnt read many books even though I had many books. I truly hope to be engaged in developing the quality of education of the whole world.
