Best Ideas 2022 features all the nominated entries submitted under ‘Submit your Idea’ category. All the entries consist of innovative solutions or propositions for an enterprise that champions the Sustainable Development Goals. They can be on the conceptual, planning, or start-up stage.
Explain your idea in details:
The Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence will manage the production of fossil fuel power and demand for renewable energy (solar or wind) stations. Some household electrical equipment does not need to work at any specific time but needs to work for some time. I.e., the washing machine does not need to work at peak electrical demand time, but it may need to work at least an hour on any given day. As an electric car charger, it may need to be charged at night, but there is no need to charge it in the evening or during peak demand periods. But consumers may not be aware of the peak or off-peak demand times. They just need to charge the cat before the next morning. If the car charging time is 4 hours, users may need to switch on the charger for 4 hours from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The IoT and AI will control a user's car charger.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Electric power demand will vary over the day, and the production of renewable energy also fluctuates. PowerIoT will manage the power demand. It will reduce the peak demand and manage the power produced by using renewable energy. Our goal will be to reduce the operation time of the fossil fuel generator. It will save environmental pollution and reduce the cost of electricity.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
This project aims to reduce environmental pollution by reducing fossil fuel consumption, reducing the cost of energy, and distributing energy equally to everyone. I need sponsors to research real-world scenarios. The business model can be discussed with sponsor.
I am Mohamed Hilmy, from Sri Lanka. 44 years old. Working as a Telecommunication Technologist for Sri Lanka Telecom and on R&D projects at SLT. I have got a 3-year diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. In addition, I have an MScIT from the University of Manipal in India. I am currently researching solar power (electricity). It is my intention in this project to share my research and ideas.
