NutriAI - A Personal Nutritionist
Explain your idea in details:
The WHO reports that seven out of ten people die annually from non-communicable illnesses. Due to our hectic lives and work schedules, we frequently neglect to maintain our nutritious meals and health regimens. Millions of individuals are afflicted with non-communicable illnesses due to their bad diets, lack of information, and lack of resources (41 million deaths every year). According to the Nepal Health Research Council, 66 percent of total death perished from non-communicable illnesses. It exceeds the number of fatalities caused by the epidemic and is growing. Imagine a world in which you can detect the nutrients in your food and determine whether the components used are healthier for the body. We devised a method that employs Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing to create a nutrition report by scanning the food label and food quantity using a camera. By extracting the information, we can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the amount of nutrients you consume is beneficial to your health and keep track of your daily nutrition intake and harmful behaviors. Our objective is to encourage health consciousness and illness prevention by recommending the healthiest alternative to conventional eating habits. We're developing an AI-powered smartphone application that analyzes the user's BMI and medical history to devise a tailored meal plan and recommends cheaper, healthier, and homemade alternatives to junk food. It addresses the issue of low-income individuals by offering nutritious food and teaching consumers about diseases and nutritional content. It proposes easy-to-prepare meals with recipes, a health tracker, food amount analysis by clicking on photographs, and different factors, health status and body measurements making it eligible for the name "Smart Nutritionist."
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Our initiative focuses mostly on SDG 2 Zero Hunger and SDG 3 Good Health and Well-Being; strives to eliminate needless suffering from preventable diseases and untimely mortality by concentrating on important objectives that improve the health of a country's population as a whole. Even though people are aware that junk food and excessive quantities of calories are detrimental to their health, they are frequently exposed to them. This fallacy gives insufficient information on healthy nutrition and diet. When we reach 10,000 users, our artificial intelligence will have adequate data to construct a customized algorithm for nutritional recommendations, according to our projections. We think that by applying machine learning and image scanning technology on food labels, we will be able to determine whether the food's constituents are beneficial to the body, what is typical for the body, and what can occur if an overdose occurs. It will alert them of the adverse impacts and impending diseases associated with improper food intake. We can convert customers to healthier meals and so prevent noncommunicable illnesses (NCDs). Not deciding on a forecast but recommending optimal meals and explaining how these good habits can aid in the fight against chronic illnesses. It will assist us in determining our daily consumption of nutrients, as well as weekly and monthly consumption statistics, according to the suggested level. As said, each person will receive personalized meal suggestions. It will grade the food products based on requirements and present the inexpensive, nutritious ones instead. My team and I am working diligently to make this algorithm and data as personalized as possible. Regarding the usage of the app advised by health experts, we are also attempting to reach out to health professionals, students, and local government.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
NutriAI is a mega-application that can accommodate all facets of healthy life. Food scanning technology-nutritional value, food categorization, and quantity measurement distinguishes itself from the competition with a localized alternative to packaged food, a tailored suggestion based on health state, periodic health analysis via diet tracker, and a food quality indicator. With health-conscious individuals as the intended audience, it has a significant effect on people with illnesses and low income. They have access to cheaper, healthier alternatives than improperly processed junk foods. Athletes can be aware of the quantity and nutritional value of the food they consume. The application will be available in both free and paid versions. All users will have free access to standard services such as food nutrition data, scanning features, and the ability to track their weekly and monthly nutrition stats. While accessing further features will require an annual subscription fee, Local and healthy food brands will be validated, at which point they will be able to sell food ingredients on the platform; the platform will sell its products and take a share from other vendors. The app will function on a commission basis, allowing users to appoint a nutritionist for more specific health advantages, which will be a premium feature. This idea won the Youth Innovation Challenge 2022, organized by Social Changemakers and Innovators (SOCHAI) and financed by Reckitt, for which we received a $200 award. Being the team of developers, idea will be implemented by the team itself reducing huge cost on human resources.
Hi there! I am Diwash Lamichhane, 19 years old recent high school graduate who loves all things related to computers, especially Web Development, Programming, and Data Science. My passion lies in developing and applying cutting-edge methods to save human lives. As the Ecstatic Paradoxs Web Department Head, Im working on a website where we try to amalgamate physics with technology by doing academic research, computer situations, and physics articles. The website has published more than 30 articles, including five research papers. In addition, I am working as a web developer at Aura-ed, an organization whose mission is to improve the literacy rate worldwide. I feel that I am making a reasonable contribution to the creation of useful goods and the dissemination of accessible scientific information. Currently diagnosed with tuberculosis, I got the idea to make a nutrition-centric app that could make peoples diets more conscientious and help them to prevent further risk. Things like this always motivate me to develop as a person and come up with a workable plan. This concept won the Youth Innovation Challenge 2022, held by Social Changemakers and Innovators (SOCHAI), a Reckitt-sponsored event, and was also 2nd runner up in Provathon 2022, one of Nepals largest hackathons. This idea will be implemented collaboratively with Sahaj Raj Malla and Dharamnath Sah.
