Weed management service to farmers using modern agricultural technology

The main objective is to provide the weed management services to farmer by using modern and smart agri-technology which is affordable to farmers, weed are limiting factor that limit yield in farming, through using agricultural herbicide and other chemicals will reduce costs to the farmer and its save time, through this service farmer will have a Prent time to involve with other activities and just wait for harvesting. Weed management have two main categories one is pre- emergency weeding this are done before planting, this allow the farmer to conserve fuel for tillage, save time etc. Second is post weed management this is done after seed germination, in this case there is special herbicide in each crop. The innovation approaches is through use of agric-machinery in weed management service and also in the future we will employ ICT as one of our marketing channel where by all our core customers will be registered in our portal where they will receive important information regard to agricultural related information through our strategy of ''send me to the farm'' this strategy provide exactly what our idea is all about. In the future also am considering other users for example in road side where there is a lot of grasses , and in other project like in mining area we can control weed to reduce hazards. Consider the ranging area where is other harmful grasses, and in big plantations where the are fire hazard , weed management service are market driven, but we have to remember that our business will expand as also technology grow ,since we depend much on research.

The target customers are ranging from smallholder farmers, agricultural cooperative unions, farmer groups to large scale farmers and other big plantations like paddy , sisal plantation and also our customer will be segmented in groups the in term of the service, for large scale farmers we will provide the service in contractual basis where we will agree in advance. for the starting we will focus on large scale farmers of paddy and sisal, for paddy farmer we will focus on established paddy irrigation schemes and area with high rain, also for sisal we will focus on large scale sisal producers in selected region in Tanzania The main target is to registered 100 large scale paddy and sisal farmers to measure this projection will access the number of our targeted customer received the service and number of proceeding negotiation with large scale producers. We will also evaluate based on profit that are generated in each year, but the real estimate of other year plan will depend on the first year of business.

The business model, is contractual based business where by i will enter into agreement with large scale producer to provide weed  management at the same time, i plan to employ  ICT platform  called ''send me to the farmer'' where i will register our core customer in data base and this platform where by farmer and our customer can press order for the service  will link to other institution that will provide agricultural information e.g. time to plant , weather condition, recommended seed, the idea is to provide our customer with all agricultural information, that they need , our platform we be ''send me to the farm'' or mentor farmer'' in the future all registered farmer who need to be linked to input and output market our platform through online advertisement will there to provide service although they will be required to pay for the service,
In the future when our business grow we will find loan in different financial institution to support the business , but also we will collaborate with other giant agri-copmany in provision our service since in order to success in business pertnership is a way to go.

I am young with age of 26 years old, am holding Bachelor of science in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness from Sokoine University of Agriculture The motivation to involve in competition is to build up my network with other youth who are passionate of changing the World also to find a way to support my idea i got this idea when i was in training i tried to brainstorm on how i can implement this idea to farmers because its new to our community, together with my fellow youth in our group we agree to try in cassava multiplication farm it work and i presented to IITA see the uploaded pictures , and currently am still looking the way to support this idea since its market driven and can contribute significantly in solving farmers problem my service intent to address the following 1. employment to youth and community 2. hunger due to poor harvest as weed is also cause of poor harvest which result into hunger 3.increase disposable income to Farmers 4.to increase production among farmers since the service will be done on time and its affordable, the quality that i have in implementing my project and succeed are but not limited I am proactive, hard working, focused, goal oriented and always I prefer team working. 2015, i received the award of best business idea in business idea competition called 3N lunched by Dr. Reginald Mengi The CEO of IPP Company in Tanzania.
