AGE EDUCATIONAL LOAN

Published on March 25, 2016 um 16:20

Explain your idea in details:

''32 million Children of primary school age are still out of school in Sub-Sahara Africa'' -(UNESCO SURVEY). ''Ending the cycle of poverty for children, their families & their communities begins with education''- Anthony Lak, Executive Director of the UN Children's Fund UNICEF. My idea is to provide both education & trades training loans to parents and guardians towards the fees of their wards and allow them to make repayments through the mobile money platforms in bits. Student beneficiaries will also be giving periodic entrepreneurship exposure including business plan competitions to avoid unemployment after graduation. AGE will do all these to join other organizations such as the UN in reducing poverty and its related problems.

Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development

''Investing in education will help advance global anti-poverty targets''-23rd September 2010 by UN. From the above quote,AGE will help to send and maintain over one million girls/children in school by the end of second year of operations. We will help about 50,000.00 women/youths in financing trades training and programs with equipment to promote entrepreneurship & to reduce poverty in Africa and the World as a whole. We will also provide loan to finance 1000 senior high school needy students in deprive communities and 400 students in the tertiary education.

Plans for implementation and sustainability

AGE Education Loan is currently seeking for funding to register and begin full operation. AGE will partner with mobile money service providers to facilitate application & disbursement. We will develop a simple coding system were application will be flexible for underprivileged.

Good idea my brother

This is a brilliant concept, especially if you are able to establish a nexus or relationship between Age and sustainable development.
Is it possible for the Age Edu Loan concept to be made to follow an asset based community development (ABCD) approach, compared to a need based approach which rely on donor fund as the only technique used towards financing poverty-reduction programs in Africa?
In ABCD technique, the people's skills are mapped as reliable asset in relation to age group. this can help you locate what specific asset to provide loan for, on a sustainable basis.

I'm into the education space and I know how relevant it is to development. By providing parents the opportunity to finance their ward's tuition, the illiteracy level will drastically decrease.

One of the major problems faced by Voters is the word *JETZT VOTEN* which they don't get clear in English. Also on the project site what they need to click is in German language. I wish the administrator will help with the rectification. Thanks.

Education is the base or the minimum need for a responsible society. It's a very sad reality in Africa, to see those kind of situations that our presidents and governments fail to solve since times...

Young Africans must take up the task of entrepreneurship now!.

April 15, 2016 19:03

Thank you all for your great ideas, suggestions and corrections. I appreciate the inputs and know it will help me in realizing my great dreams. For now, most of the items and components of the loan idea is not known to many, thus application, disbursement and repayment. Also although majority of Africans are poor or needy, it does not mean we are incapable of engaging in income earning activities. We can nurture young rural people into entrepreneurship or income generating activities which will help them take care of their basic needs.
Since the greatest part of our Africa lands are fertile, we can even use the back our homes for farms which will generate income and people need to be educated on this. AGE Educational Loan's Entrepreneurship Network will help to realize my vision.

That is a very important observation brought up by Mbono, as the organisation needs to survive. It was stated the possibilty of business plan competitions.Maybe the winning prize can act as an investment into the winning ideas, with the focus of buying equity in the future business. Therefore, the company could invest in multiple ideas which it deemed having potential and that can be a major source for revenues to support the initial idea of providing loans for the poor. This way you are still accomplishing your stated goals as well as opening up investment from outside entities.

March 26, 2016 18:31

Hi,
I really like your idea but I have a question about the durability of the project.
Every company have to make benefits to stay alive. Classics banks made them by financing projects. Because your project is for poor people, I guess the loans interests will be low. If your finances are only based on the repayments on the loans, will it be enough to maintain and expand your company ?

March 26, 2016 18:13

This is a great initiative and it helps better our society as a whole.I am from Trinidad and Tobago, so these kind of initiatives are funded by our Government, but in your case for a private individual to undertake such a task is quite amirable.I especially support the idea of entrepreneurial training and exposure therefore it creates a complete programme. As it aids in not just training individuals but also how to utilize one's knowledge to improve themselves. However, these loans are they purely cash based? In the sense that, how can you truly ensure that the money AGE loans them is being used for its correct purpose?Maybe paying the monies to the learning institution or any other support service based on the needs requirement per individual can be looked at to get the best out of the programme. Also, regarding the mobile payment platform is also great as it enables payment pretty much anywhere, however if the individuals are in impoverished positions, you also have to take into consideration communication access to the people you wish to serve and how that shall affect their payment ability.I do wish you the best of luck with your project and continue creating opportunities for the less fortunate.
