Family Planning and leadership Training for Womens & Girls in Afghanistan.

Published on March 16, 2016 um 07:05

Explain your idea in details:

Family planning and leadership are crucial components in ensuring the health and development of individuals, families, and communities throughout the world. These services can improve women and childrens overall health, womens access in making policies and development. Yet access to high-quality reproductive health and leadership services remains a challenge. Inequitable social and gender norms limit womens access to family planning resources and the choice to use any method of family planning can often lie beyond their own authority. These social barriers prevent them from participating in the decision-making process, whether at the family level or within community and government institutions that influence policy. While there are growing numbers of women in policy positions, they often struggle for a significant role among policy elites. This creates an environment in which womenthe individuals most directly and profoundly impacted by family planning and leadership policies, insufficient funding, and poor or inaccessible servicesare not heard by those in authority. By providing training for women and girls throw family planning and leadership workshops they can create a better environment in order to become more successful in their family and in societies or their communities. This training will develop their undrestanding and their knowledge about how to become more successful entrepreneur in their county.

Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development

We all agree that progress in achieving sustainable development goals has been abysmally slow. In the 21st century, we are confronted with economic, environmental and social crises on a global scale. The economic situation of women in developing countries is far worse, but the solution is not that different: let women manage the money. Seventy percent of the worlds 1.3 billion people living on less than US$ 1 a day are women or girls. United Nations and World Bank studies show that focusing on women in development assistance and poverty reduction strategies leads to faster economic growth than gender neutral approaches. Financial aid put in the hands of men tends to lead to a higher share wasted on personal use. Women are essential to poverty reduction because of their role in increasing economic opportunities for women is the cornerstone of development. Investing in women and girls in their education, health and gainful activities can have a multiplier effect on poor economies. However, the share of bilateral and multilateral aid focused on gender-specific projects remains insufficient, about 30 percent. Banks and donors need to see women as active players in economic development. More aid should be focused on increasing income-generating initiatives based on womens traditional roles in the home, health services, nutrition, and agriculture. Afghanistan womens are fighting for opportunities to stand in their feet and start their businesses and start developing their goals.

Plans for implementation and sustainability

The project will take place in Kabul and Herat University in Afghanistan. Female professors are willing to help to implement this huge step which will help and save lives of many womens and will bring sustainability and development in their families and communities. Around 1000-2000 female students are studying in Kabul and Herat University from across Afghanistan, Its great opportunity to train them and after seeing the effect of the training they will definitely spread of what they learned and throw time it will spread across the country. However we have to pay for expenses which will be provided by donors and it will be a challenge but nothing is impossible.

Women are the foundation of our society and an offering like this shall be an excellent addition to aid in creating a better world. As stated your major issue shall be funding as your donors will need to see an impact that can be quantified financially.A solution to that is partner with training institutions that may offer job placements or courses in STEM related subjects so as to make your programme more appealing.I wish you great success your endeavour.I hope you take the time to review and vote on my idea UrClickcast https://www.entrepreneurship-campus.org/ideas/4/2637/ .Thanks.

That is a brilliant idea bro. Considering the on-going situation this may seem difficult, but the only thing it will take is time and determination to empower and equip women with essential skills to stand on their own feet, fill up the severe gaps and lead this nation further.

Excellent to see a young man taking an active role in promoting family planning. It is the number one action governments can take to improve the health and lives of women, girls, and families while also improving the economic status of the country at large. Great idea Edris!

It is well known that economic dependence among women in developing countries has been one of the main reason for their deprivation and exploitation. If there is some way that women could be provided some skills to manage their livelihood , this could be a great step towards making the world a better place for women. This is a great idea if people can volunteer and help women in developing skills. Best of luck for this endeavor.

It's impressive and lovely to see youth initiative working with women and family planning issues in Afghanistan. Being from a neighboring country Tajikistan, I am quite well familiar with the women and girls rights situation in Afghanistan. Edris you came with great idea and wish you much success in the process, as educated and informed women are mothers, sisters and friends who can be agents of change.

I consider this a great idea, as mentioned above women that have expertise on education, that are aware of their context, cultural barriers and the needs of their communities are key to deliver important policies for positive outcomes. I would be glad to follow up this idea and see how the project is developed.

March 16, 2016 11:51

I hope this project will help to raise the living standard of the women not only in Afghanistan, but also can be an example for other country so that gender equality can be reached. Would love to hear the updates.

This idea is remarkable as it aims to empower women and girls not in terms of reproductive health & choices but also in leadership. To eliminate patriarchy, misogyny and ingrained societal attitudes, we need to bring women at decision table in both the spheres- public and private. This idea will definitely act as a milestone in achieving gender equality.
