The Bright Box

Explain your idea in details:
The main objective of The Bright Box is to let anyone, no matter their backgrounds, contribute into bettering our world through small gestures of paying it forward. With the rise of social media, The Bright Box will be launched through a website/app where people will choose on a cause they'd like to contribute in through a form of a "box". A shopping cart will be provided to them where they will shop using their credit card or debit card for items that they'd like to buy and put inside the box. Once done, they will pass the box on to a friend or to any online member with the same cause. The box will be given to the recipients only if a minimum of 10 people were able to pass on and place something in the box. Photos and videos of the recipients will be sent to the people who contributed once their boxes have been received. It's time we make use of social media as a tool for bringing a sense of charity and togetherness to its millions of users around the world. Let's spread brightness in the darkest parts of humanity through the Bright Box.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Targets of this campaign will depend on the causes that each box could represent. It is very varied which allows more people to participate depending on what specific cause they believe in. Targets for charity could include the PWDs, Out of school youth, awareness on the environment, and more. In terms of the people we will target to participate, these would cover men and women aged 15-60 which are wide social media users. For the specific measures, the app/website itself could dictate it depending on the number of Bright boxes we've already deployed and the number of people who were able to receive these. Also, the app/website would be a good tool in gauging the number of people willing to help and participate in the causes of sustainability around the globe. I think that being able to build a database of people and recipients would allow us to further see what improvements could still be done to better living situations and the like. It's important to create and own the data and information first. Through having these, one can have the power to conduct implementation of wider projects for sustainable development.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
The business model is similar to an online shopping business where consumers will buy products which will be placed in the Bright Boxes and be delivered/shipped to their chosen recipients once they've passed it on to a fellow contributor. In terms of financing the project, initially, sponsors and income-generating activities will be conducted. Once it has been put up for implementation, a minimum fee will be charged to the users/contributors of the app/website and to the participating merchants to sustain operations and pay for costs. We will collaborate with various e-commerce companies, online shops, and merchants. We will also partner up with foundations and charities who would like to participate in strengthening their existing projects or creating new ideas through the Bright Box. Users of the app can also suggest foundations that they know of which the Bright Box team will evaluate as a recipient.
I'm Regine Remolano Villanueva, 22 years old, a fresh graduate from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. I've graduated as cum laude of my class, became Vice President of my organization, the UP Communication Research Society and a member of the UP Women's Basketball Team where I played as a center. All of these has pushed me to realize that it's time I give back to the Filipino people who have been part of funding my scholarship in the university. Now, I'm a new hire in SMART Communications as a Social Media Officer. I've been a communications and social media enthusiast since high school mostly because of my developed love for writing. I experimented social media a lot by creating an online business and starting up campaigns for the brands I've worked with such as Smart. Now, I'd like to further know the extent of what social media can do to change the world by creating this concept of the Bright Box. I think it's time we make use of the digital transformation to help out someone in need.
