Explain your idea in details:
Roadside toilets Services is an idea which will involve building modern toilets services along all major highways in the country. This idea has been conceived following two major factors: environmental factor and human sanitation factor. In environmental cases, there has been unhealthy tendencies of long distance passengers of throwing waste and plastic materials out of moving buses. Most of these particles never decompose with the soil, which pose direct land pollution. Meanwhile, long distance buses have barbaric tendencies of dropping off passengers along risky bushes and forests for toilets services. This situation risk human safety and their journeys. The primary objective of the project is having an inspiring project and making it a premier case study in order to ignite other business ventures, investors, or funders, to build the same other projects along the rest major highways in the country. The project will have waste treatment facilities for treating waste materials and processing plastic materials into decorative stuffs. Through free monthly environmental leaflets, the project will raise environmental awareness and knowledge to communities through passengers who will spread such knowledge back to the communities. Our mission is to provide a unique and relaxing services with regards to roadside reserves as particular and environmental conservation at large. We will strive to achieve these through: enhancing liveability in the community by improving safety journey to long distance commuters, accessibility in services in regard with gender, age and disability. We will also be devoted in environmental sustainability and convinience of our public toilet facilities in line with improved safe water supply, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in closets and their compounds. Finally, we will be very mindful to the well being of our customers and staff by selling our solution to them with respect and dignity (problem solving centric project).
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Our target is to ensure sustainable long distance journeys to passengers and environmental conservation. This is through the following: Our customers and servers: we will treat both customers and servers in reaching project's goals. Servers will be provided satisfactory salaries and incentives to deliver reputable service. Customers then will have 'word of mouth' to spread for the service delivered. Provide exemplary service: having hospitality to our customers as long as most of them are long distance travellers always tired of their journey. We will then employ servers who are qualified in hotel management WASH: many public toilets are aging and unhealthy. We will ensure high standard management in safe water supply, sanitation and hygiene Gender and disabilities regard: we will offer services with highly regards to disabled people having their special closets. We will also regard gender by demarcating male and female closets. This will be through directing signs to such cases. Keys to Success Nature of service: we will recommend a 'repeat business' where customer who comes in once, should want to return and recommend us. This is through kind service from kind service providers. TABOA agreement/partnership: we expect to undertake legal agreements with Tanzania Bus Owners Association (TABOA), so that buses can unboard passengers to the built toilet service spots. Regular training programs to employees: this is to activate our service providers to deliver sound and reputable services. This will also position our project and get it well known in different forums.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Total start up cost is assumed to be USD 20,370 of which USD 2,286 will be contributed by the owner, USD 9,145 as Commercial loan, USD 6,859 as Government Agencies contribution, and USD 2,080 from Environmental related NGOs fundraising. Sales projections assume 740 customers per day, equal to USD 640, resulting sales of just over USD 2,026 monthly, or USD 24,325 annually. This will equate to USD 30,110 sales in year 2, USD 33,621 by year 3's sales. The total cost of service production will range to around USD 7,178 by year 1, USD 10,014 year 2, and USD 10,402 by year 3, where its net profit is assumed to be USD 17,490 by year 1, USD 19,415 by year 2, and around USD 21,948 by year 3. This makes the projects highly desirable and moderately profitable business concept and therefore, a good investment idea other business ventures should consider.
My name is Salu Yuda, 29, I'm personally dedicated to environments. I'm really a friend of environments and human sanitation. Travelled around the country by buses, saw, and built several brand stories. A long distance passengers' problem is a societal touching and a challenging problem and thus where my idea conceived from. I have a passion of entrepreneurship since way back to my childhood. Ever being a sugarcane little seller around the village centres. Ever been a boy I used to go for second-hand harvests in homeland farms. We also used as labor for money and harvested cotton in large cotton plantations. All we used to do was to get some money to suffice self needs and schooling needs. I adopted business passions from our elders who were doing petty entrepreneurship around villages. Since then I had a dream of making life through myself and not through employment. In 2010 I managed selling home cattle which were starving due to lack of pastures, and I built home living house. I managed this within a 6 month long university holiday. After university studies I came out the streets for struggle where i had nothing in my pocket. My cousin trusted me and gave a petty capital for sharing the profit. In 2013, I started a clothing line shop where I shopped items from neighbouring, Uganda. In 2015, I won an environmental idea and the money wasn't enough to operate the idea, so I injected the money in my ongoing petty business. Until the moment I have managed to pay the equity money back to my cousin and I run my petty business by myself. The above life experiences led to my current entrepreneurial path.
