Explain your idea in details:
The objective is to build wrist watches that can help children to be safe and old people in medication. Currently we are trying to make 2 types of watches: 1. LifeWatch for Children : According to CDC, About one in five people who die from drowning are children 14 and younger. These nonfatal drowning injuries can cause severe brain damage that may result in long-term disabilities such as memory problems, learning disabilities, and permanent loss of basic functioning. In a Country like Bangladesh, where there are a large number of ponds, canals and rivers, the chance of drowning in high. Every year many children die because of this. So we are trying to build a waterproof smartwatch for children, using a sim900 gsm module, water level sensor & smoke sensor. Whenever a child gets in touch with water or smoke, the device will send an alarm to his/her parents phone. And through gps parents can easily know whether the situation is risky or not. Moreover, if the situation is risky, the children can be easily tracked, thus it can help us to reduce the post-drowning health risk. 2. Lifewatch for Old people : This watch will help old people in their medication. The belt on this type of watches will carry the most important routine-medicines. The watch will notify the wearer when its time to take his or her medication by alarming. Old people who have problem in moving can easily take their pills from inside the belt. We are also trying to add pulse sensor in the watch so that it can report when the pulse rate is abnormal. There will be also an emergency system in the watch.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Our current two products will help ensure a small portion GOAL-3 in SDGs which is ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being at all ages. Coming from a country like Bangladesh, Ive always seen that children in rural areas are always deprived of proper healthcare. And old people are also facing problems now-a-days as participation of women and men in workforce is increasing day-by-day. Measures to evaluate success We can only measure our success once we launch the product in the market and get customer feedback and the number of sales of our product. The products we are trying to make is something that will provide a feeling of safety to the parents and convenience to the old people who often forget to take medicine in time. Our target- We have a long mission. Though we have started with only two products, we have a mission of making different wristwatches for different target groups. For example, our next project will be to make watches for girls to prevent sexual harassment and to ensure continuation school of education for more girls. Watches for nurses, so that they can set custom alarm for service providing rooms and emergency alert system from the patients. If we get the full support, we can create a great impact in the markets of healthcare, safety and convenience through smart wrist watches.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
a. Our watches will reduce the number of deaths and injuries due to drowning and fire accidents
b. We will be able to ensure proper medication for old people
c. We will be able to make parents/ healthcare institutions aware of emergency conditions
d. As we are innovator, we will have a huge market nationally and also globally as we will be introducing the first smart watch that is ensuring safety, security and convenience from the users point of view
Currently there is no company which offers the same device & service we are offering. This is a huge advantage for us for market penetration and expansion.
Marketing Plan : Currently we are doing market segmentation by benefits. For example, there will be different product lines for different customers. The most powerful part of our marketing plan is that we will be providing health safety through a simple watch as everyday children are dying and many are getting injured in our country and old people are continuing to face health problems, girls are continuously becoming the victims of sexual harassment.
Currently we need around $28000 for our pilot project, which includes cost of- R&D, Computers, Sim900 GSM module, Gps chips, Water sensor, Other chips,Software development
Currently we are trying to make a prototype with our own investment. But it will be too hard to come up with a good prototype as we are yet students.
