World Health Organization confirms in June, 2015, that 2.4 billion of people do not have access to improved sanitation. And, 748 million people lack access to improved drinking-water and it is estimated that 1.8 billion people use a source of drinking-water that is faecally contaminated, which can promote diseases correlated with hygiene. Those numbers represent the lack of basic satiation around the world that must be changed. Basic sanitation is something that should be accessible for all the XXI centurys families. Furthermore Digital Diffusion Chlorinator is one of the solutions for this old problem once it can be used in rural areas as urban areas. Most part of Brazil is rural and requires basic sanitation for a good life and good production in agricultural business. However, the government does not provide enough for a good sanitation inasmuch as it provides free small chlorine capsules for rural citizens. Also, the citizens normally do not know or are afraid in the most part of the cases to use such a chemical material in their water. So, with those facts we had the opportunity to plan a device that does not require human interaction or high knowledge about the purifying process. Moreover, It is cheaper (around $300 dollars each unit) and more efficient than normal devices once it is totally Digital. In addition, the boarded device ( made of Arduino ) that will be localized in the waters tank will be responsible for calculate the amount of Chlorine assuring no waste of the material and providing the a best quality of water for consume and production. Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Digital Diffusion Chlorinators main objective is to provide clean water accessibility for those people that unfortunately do not have it and provide better quality of water for rural business. Our goal is to develop a machine more efficient, more durable, more ecologic and cheaper than the casual chlorinators. Moreover, the Digital Diffusion Chlorinator will prevent the creation of new black cesspools which, consequently, reduce the water tables pollution. Furthermore, our device can be used at different sizes of waters tank, assuring no waste of Chlorine once it makes a measure of chlorine concentration. Also, the Digital Chlorinator provides better quality of water inasmuch as it requires minimum human interaction which results in low errors rate at the purifying process. Besides, if we look at the markets demand, we will notice that there is no Chlorinator that supplies us with so many functions and qualities for so low price. Normal rural Chlorinators require daily human interaction which gives us as consequence a slow process of purifying and poor quality of water. Due to it can provide bad basic sanitation which increases the numbers of diseases.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
The business model of Digital Diffusion Chlorinator is simple. Our collaborators consist in companies that depend on agricultural activities, educational and research institutions (CNPq, FAPEMIG) and future international companies. Also government sectors such as the City hall and the municipal secretary of health of Pouso Alegre are possible financing source/collaborators. Furthermore, our financial income is based on external financing and reinvestment of the income. Our focus in the market is people that do not have water accessibility and people that work in agricultural business. The goal for us is to turn their life better and provide a better quality of water to their use and consume for a low price (around $300 dollars each unit). Once our product require minimum human interaction, the possibility of errors in the process of purifying is reduced which means a better quality of water. Also we plan to have a channel of communication (an Online platform) for the users future assistance. The estimated cost for turn this development true is around $5.000 dollars.
My name is Henrique Fadoni and I am 18 years old. I am applying for this competition because I would like to share my ideas with the world and help other people that sadly do not have water accessibility. My principal motivation is that I have the possibility to change and improve their lives. Something that describes me very well is my determination. When I want to achieve something, I work the hardest I can to get it and I never give up on my goals. This work that I am presenting has already reached the 2nd place in TIC-Americas, an International entrepreneurship competition, and 1st place in ASMEC entrepreneurship competition. I have a lot of skills in mathematics and in the science branch. I have got an award in Mathématique Sans Frontieses competition (cooper in the national and silver in the state). Furthermore, I am patient and I know how to work in a group because I know how to listen others opinions. I believe in the group work as a way to get more and better results, this is why I entered in the Rotary Club. I think that if an idea can be imagined, it can be realized with effort and hard work. I think that if my idea can be realized, it will help a lot of peoples life day by day, and this makes me feel more motivated to keep working on that.
