The current targeted population is huge which consist of unemployed and underemployed persons in Nigeria. The Nigerian Bureau of Statistics in its latest Unemployment Watch reports that the actual population of people willing, able and actively looking for work is 78.4 million in the first quarter of 2016. The report also said the numbers of underemployed person in Nigeria are 15.02 million persons. These unemployed Nigerian population were those who were actively looking for work, but could either not find work, absolutely nothing at all for at least 20 hours, or did something but not for up to 20 hours in a week; many of which have gained one or more skills. We will ensure than many underemployed, unemployed and recent graduates in Nigeria from themselves in Micro Business Units and startup businesses using our social skill collaboration platform. In 2016, we target 50 new businesses as we pilot and expect 500 new micro business units by the end of 2017. Our vision is to create over 1,000 new businesses by the end of 2020 and have over a million skill set on our online platform from over a million users.

Your profile

Abiola Oyebanjo is a Social Innovator. He is the curator of the 1864 Initiative; a social think-tank with the aim of becoming Africas primary institute for solving its most challenging micro social and economic problems. Abiola has five years of experience innovating and implementing solutions to social problems in Nigeria via working directly with communities with thematic areas on microcredit financing, capacity building, education, youth empowerment, career services, agriculture and technology. Abiola has through the 1864 Initiative started a Mental Revolution Forum in Nigeria targeted at changing the negative mind-sets thwarting development in Nigeria. He has written hundreds of stimulating ideas, projects, anecdotes and articles touching micro areas of development in education, relationships, success and religion, power through the print and social media featured in National newspapers. As the Project Leader of 1864 Academy, Abiola, 30, has worked with the 1864 Team to create the first Career Manual for young people; and He designed the roadmap to creating a flagship institute that would reduce the skill -gap of disadvantaged children in Nigeria. He is also a Finalist Essayist on contest organized by the Greens of the European Union and a Fellow of the Dell Social Innovation Challenge, University of Texas.
