Lightway (Road divider with rain sensor)

Explain your idea in details:
One of the concerns of motorists is the visibility on the road when it is raining. Some of the road accidents happen because drivers cant see the road divider line due to the heavy rain. There has to be a way for the drivers to see the road divider when it is raining heavily. We hope to aid the drivers by making a device which is able to sense rain which will then trigger the circuit to turn on the LED. It will be an improvement to the already existing road dividers which only reflects the light coming from the cars headlight. In addition to that, we want to pursue a more energy-saving method which is solar power, a clean energy source. The road dividers will have a rain sensor (especially design by us) attached to it so that when there is rain the rainwater will connect the circuit and the LEDs will turn on. The circuit (in the road divider) will be connected to the nearby streetlights (via underground wires).
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
We expect this to be implemented on roads which don't have barriers that separate the incoming and oncoming lanes. This should be implemented in areas where heavy downpours are common and in cities where there is a high amount of traffic flow. We expect our product to reduce the number of road accidents during heavy rain.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
The components used in this project are very simple components such resister, transistor and LEDs. The turning on and off the circuit work on the simple concept of water conducts electricity. There were no expensive and sophisticated components being used in this circuit. Thus the cost of manufacturing and maintenance cost is very low.
We plan to approach venture capitalist to pitch our idea to them. We also plan to approach the Land Transport Authorities to evaluate our ideas and consider this idea to our road safer for drivers. With the low cost for this product we think there is a high chance that it can be implemented.
Sun Feng is 20 years old and Iskandar is 19 years old. We are students from Temasek Polytechnic (Singapore) studying in School of Engineering in the course , Diploma In Mechatronics. Both of us are currently in our final year doing in our final project. We are very passionate about saving the environment. We want to use what we learn in our course to apply in practical application that can help the environment.
