#MEET A Step to Bright Future

#MEET A Step to Bright Future

This is a short interview we conducted with Sheher Bano the creator of A step to bright future by spreading Awareness among parents about different fields/careers. If you like this project and would like to vote for it, click here.

1. Please, tell us a bit about yourself: where are you from and what is your background?

My name is Sheher Bano and currently, I am studying my degree in Master of Philosophy in Computer Science.I am from Pakistan and I belong to a well-educated family.

2. Can you describe your idea or project in two sentences?

My project is all about educating parents about different careers to remove their misconceptions about the careers labeled as men's and women's.

3. How did you get your idea or concept?

As I am a student myself I have gone through so many troubles in selecting a suitable career for myself as I am an IT professional and not many girls are in this field because of the misconceptions of parents about different careers. So I believe if parents are guided well by 8-9 standard then they can be a little more open minded about the fields or careers. And frankly speaking, I myself have come across so many stuff like IT field is not for girls and should have chosen something else and because my family is supportive and educated I am allowed to do whatever career I want but not everyone is allowed to do so.That's why I want to help students in pursuing their careers by altering policies of teaching institutes.

4. What is unique about your idea/project and how does it benefit mankind?

The project itself is unique as no one has implemented or ever tried to implement this policy of guiding parents about different fields/careers.
The first benefit of this project is that parents will be aware of a variety of careers.
The second benefit is if parents are guided properly then it will be easy for students to convince their parents about their passion/interests.
Thirdly students will be allowed to think out of the box.If they have many choices then they will try to improve themselves.
The fourth benefit is if parents are guided well then the labeling that we have given to fields as men's career and women's career will be removed.
The guidance will help remove the gender discrimination among us.
Students will be more successful if they are allowed to do stuff they want to do.

5. Describe yourself as an entrepreneur in one sentence

I am open minded, optimistic and enthusiastic.

6. How do you deal with people that doubt your abilities/initiatives?

I am more focused on showing them my abilities through my work instead of telling them about my initiatives. The output of my work will decide my abilities and will be a response to the people who doubt my initiatives.

7. Where does your passion lie?

I am passionate about observing people through their characteristics.I love to meet people belonging to different cultures.

 8. What are you afraid of or what keeps you up at night?

I am afraid of dying uselessly without doing anything for the world.

9. According to you, money is a synonym for.....

Necessity

10. If you could rid the world of three things, what would they be?

  1. Hatred
  2. Gender discrimination
  3. Violence

11. What are the benefits you take from the Entrepreneurship Campus?

I have learned more about the Entrepreneurs responsibility through this campus. Now I am more focused and I believe better knowledge about what should be an Entrepreneurs focus.

12. What do you like more about the Entrepreneurship Campus?

The access through a variety of good projects and ideas.

13. Which idea/project do you like most?

Oh great ideas educating parents about career choice of their kids. Many parents are pushing their kids into careers they are not really good at.

Thank you campus admin for sharing this.
