#MEET Idle to Ideal

This is a short interview we conducted with Dax Olfindo, the founder of “Idle to Ideal”. If you like the concept of this idea and would like to vote for it, click HERE.

  • What is your background?

I am Dax Olfindo, Filipino, 26 years old. I come from the archipelago known as the Philippines. I am a registered agriculturist in my country. I am a horticulturist. My specialization focuses on Fruit and Plantation crop production and management. I am the founder of Dream Agritech Consultancy Services and our project is called Idle to Ideal.

  • Describe your idea or project in two sentences.

It aims to turn vacant, idle, viable agricultural lands into a food producing resource. We also want to educate the out of school youth and the women, empowering them through teaching them the tenets of sustainable agriculture.

  • What are the benefits you take from the Entrepreneurship Campus?

I want my project to be seen by a lot of people. I recognize that this initiative has a long ways to go and has lots of room for improvement. Through the Entrepreneurship Campus, I hope to learn from the best and most brilliant minds in order to make this initiative, this dream of ours into something that is viable and can create the most significant impact not only in our country, but worldwide.

  • What motivates you to be an entrepreneur?

Changing the world. That's my main motivation. Giving power to the powerless, feeding the hungry and giving equal opportunities. That is why I want to be in this field. That is why I am want to be an entrepreneur.

  • Imagine you have ‚supreme power’ to create and innovate: how would your world look like? What changes would you like to make in your community and/or in the world? Share your thoughts from a ‚supreme power’ and entrepreneur standpoint.

I would want everyone to have access to healthy food. I believe that it solves most of our problems. If everyone is consuming healthy produce, we will have a healthier society. As an entrepreneur, the more people are made aware and consume these healthy produce that will come from the farms that we hope to manage, the business will blossom because the demand will always be there.

  • What would you say to potential voters who may be reading your interview?

To anyone who sees that equality in nutrition can solve most of the world's problems, this initiative is for you. It aims to create jobs for those who have been neglected by society, teaching them one of the noblest professions in the world, being a farmer. This model can be replicated anywhere, this can be done by anyone. All it takes is the belief that feeding the people can end most conflicts.

Could you please explain how this is innovative or creative in anyway? There are literally countless programs and projects all over the world that is literally doing this same exact thing.

In fact, if you google “Youth farming initiative”, there are millions of searches that pop up, spanning across the globe.

No need to reinvent the wheel.
