Kelvin Macharia Kuria is 28 years old young entrepreneur with over 7 years’ experience and expertise in innovative security business. Currently, Kelvin is the Founder and CEO of SUNRISE TRACKING, a company that offers authentic and innovative security solutions for both vehicles and buildings such as; car tracking products, fleet/fuel management system, CCTV surveillance and biometrics products. His main mandate is focusing on innovating, designing of security products and services as well as managing overall operation of Sunrise Tracking. He is also the founder of Sunrise Innovations Limited an innovation company that’s specialized in technological innovations such as: Android Tv, Drones and all forms of software solutions.

Kelvin is an undergraduate Degree student pursuing Bachelors of Commerce from the University of Nairobi. He is a Global Scholar under (GSP-2011) in Entrepreneurship and Leadership from Africa Leadership Academy in South Africa, which is the Africa’s most prestigious institution that seek to transform Africa by identifying, developing and connecting its future Leaders. In 2015 he did Business and Entrepreneurship track at Dartmouth College, one of the IVY leagues institution in America as a Young African Leader under Mandela Washington Fellowship (YALI)a flagship initiative by the USA 44th president Barack Obama.

Kelvin is a Youth Ambassador who was privilege to represent the government of Kenya at the 61st session of the commission on the status of women (CSW 61) Youth Forum under priority theme: Gender Equality and women economic empowerment in the changing world of work which was held at the United Nation General Assembly in 2017. In preparations of 2nd HLM in Nairobi 2016, he spearheaded The Road to Nairobi project that seeks to further promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) No.8, especially among young people by collecting their inputs and inspiring them to be part of the implementation of the agenda as well as creating opportunities for youth entrepreneurship. He was selected as a Kenyan young entrepreneur at TICAD6 youth entrepreneurship declaration to stimulate new enterprise development by promoting entrepreneur-researcher collaboration for new knowledge creation and sharing.

Kelvin is a proud Titan Fellow at Keroche Foundation Academy which was established to address the knowledge and experience gap that confronts young Kenyan entrepreneurs. He serves as a mentor under the Equity Foundation Wings to fly program. In 2016 he served as a judge in the HULT PRIZE at Kabarak University, as students answer President BILL CLINTON’S call on crowded urban spaces, by doubling income. He has also served as a Judge at the Africa Youth Awards, which is a prestige award scheme with the prime aim of appreciating the works of young Africans in Africa and the Diaspora. He has been named by Nairobi News as among Top 10 Kenyans to Watch Out for in 2016 as a result of his incredible innovative spirit.

For the second consecutive year 2015 and 2016, Kelvin has been named in the FORBES list of Africa’s Top 30 Under 30 most promising Young Entrepreneur in Africa. He has earned an honorable spot on the inaugural annual year 2016 list of 100 Most Influential Young Africans under Science and Technology category that focused on young Africans who are leading the innovation revolution across the continent. He is voted – winner Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2015 Africa Youth Awards hosted in Ghana.

He is the Digital Entrepreneur of the Year 2015 award winner at the ICT value awards – Kenya. He has been featured among top 40 under 40 men in Kenya through Business Daily. He has also received international recognition as African Start-up of the year 2014 from CNN, Young Nairobi Tech innovator by Voice of America and also East Africa regional winner of the CEO Global’s Titans-Building the nations award from South Africa.

Kelvin has successfully enabled Sunrise Tracking to be among top CIO100 East Africa Awards 3 times consecutively from 2013 to 2015 by using ICT & IT to deliver business value through creating competitive advantage, optimizing business processes and enabling growth as well as Improving relationships with customers.

Finally, Kelvin first came into public figure limelight, when hundreds of students were busy planning and executing strikes in their schools in the academic year 2008. One Kelvin was a student at Nakuru Boys High school, where he was burning midnight oil but on a different mission which was to invent a scientific proven homemade organic pesticide that sent a big baffle to the scientist world. Through his invention he was crowned tittle “The Boy Scientist” while still in high school and in 2014 he among the Twelve best entrepreneurs participating in “The Next Big Thing” competition organized by the Business Daily (Nation Media) to showcase their ideas to potential investors and venture capitalists.
