Kitso Bapaki is a passionate active citizen, a development volunteer. He has enjoyed a successful career full of achievements in his working in leadership positions and leading development projects.
Kitso has completed BGCSE year 2004 then study Basic ICT at Lerala Reading Room under Botswana National Library Services, Management Strategies for People and Resources, Focus on: Understanding the Rights of Women and Girls, Fundamentals of Starting and Running a Business and Community Organizing for Action from YALI Network (Young African Leaders Initiative). This year he went to YALI Regional Leadership Center at South Africa in Pretoria to train the track of Civic Leadership. Last year 2016 he got an award as a community leadership and business during Young Batswana 50 Change Markers awards.
Some of his community engagement include active citizen/volunteering, supporting vulnerable people, youth development, leadership development as well as engaging in several other initiatives that lead to advancement of human life.
He has served in a number of structures at home including a chairperson for Lerala youth committee, facilitator member for Gender Perspectives and publicity member for Independence committee in the community. In the years 2006 and 2007 he volunteered at Kukubjwe Primary School, where he assisted arts and design pupils with their studies and helped improve the school’s overall results. I also volunteered as coach of the Lerala Community Junior Secondary School softball team, helping the school team to proceed to the national championships.
He is currently operates a small business, which he started with his own funds. His business provides photocopying, photography and secretarial services as well as graphic designs to the residents of Lerala and surrounding areas. He has implemented initiative whereby adopted a child form Lerala Primary School to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all and provide school material support like; uniform, school fees(payment) and stationary. Also implemented the project which deals with talent search explorations. Also to educate all youth of this country both in urban and rural destinations about the purpose of life in general, the project also aims to familiarize Motswana with the different tribes and cultures found in the country. To have events where we explore talents, have workshops where we share the experience of the life through talent. To come and discuss about the challenges of life as youth and how we can improve to a better life.
I think home is where I feel comfortable and its changes. So I carry my community with me when a storm comes, rain comes and winter comes, but I am still at home and I try to be at home with myself. Wanting people to see is not really my thing. I am able to implement initiative without necessarily depending on other people. I’m someone who is ambitious and I want to continue to learn and I don’t want be stagnant. I’m someone who also wants to share with the world and my community and my family members. I would rather go for something that’s more passionate and connects to the heart of the people faster and quicker.
The word of encouragement towards my community youth they should focus and witness. They have to leverage on their strengths and focus on their dreams as well as have control of their lives. It is good to be part of such an initiative and I also promise that the content
