From a conservation perspective, ESD is already having a positive impact on Bakossi Park, as evidenced by the reduction of poaching and forest destruction. The positive changes are due to the combined efforts of public awareness of conservation issues and the transfer of conservation-based ESD best practices to households by programme participants, demonstrating that these two conservation strategies - education and livelihood support - are complementary.
