A sincere thank you to all those who believe in this project and want it to become a reality... With you we will move forward the world is moving and so are we. Let's be positive we'll get there. Thank you for your feedback
Over the next five years, we will grow our understanding of how we can best develop leaders. We will use this knowledge to enhance our programs while also sharing insights with the rest of the sector.
By 2023, the African Centre for Participatory Governance must become a model social centre with a solid financial engine and a significant source of programme income that will enable it to operate in perpetuity in order to participate in the transformation of the Africa we want
In Togo, the population is not interested in public action, social action and this is deplorable. According to Afro barometer figures (2013), a non-partisan survey and research project in Africa that measures citizens' attitudes towards democracy and governance, the economy, civil society and other issues, 26% of Togolese are very interested in public affairs, 22% are more or less interested and 30% are not interested at all; 3% of Togolese often meet politicians, 6% sometimes, and 90% never. This figure indicates the gap between the rulers and the governed. This is a barrier to the involvement of all and to sustainable development. It is therefore necessary to improve the country's public governance through citizen action and the promotion of peace. It is therefore with this in mind that this project aims to support young people's civic engagement and participation in peace-building and the promotion of cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue, by empowering and mobilizing youth organizations, women and men, as well as other key actors (policy makers, researchers, media professionals and social workers).
This project also plans to develop in children the 21st century skills that are the essential currency for participation, achievement and competitiveness in the global economy.
Africa's greatest need is ethical and entrepreneurial leadership. Too often, we only invest in fighting the symptoms of a lack of leadership in Africa: we give blankets, food and medicine to people affected by war, poverty and famine. But these efforts will never stop if we do not train leaders who prevent wars, entrepreneurs who create jobs and innovators who find lasting solutions to the root causes of Africa's problems.
RESULTS
- Creating an enabling environment for young people to engage in their communities
- Promotion of a positive vision aimed at empowering young people and strengthening their defences against hate speech, radicalization and extremism
-A system of governance in which young people are involved, a pluralist and egalitarian democracy whose fundamental reference is man, shaped by courageous mobilizing leadership.
-Young Africans capable of thinking for themselves and transforming their living environment through business actions necessary for the development of their community.
More specifically, the project will provide participants with the following:
- Improve their knowledge of concepts and terminology in peacebuilding and leadership;
- Improve their leadership skills to analyze and use various peacebuilding tools;
- Stimulate their social skills and personal development and initiation to active participation in the decision-making process;
- Develop the public policies necessary to produce meaningful change at the local, national and global levels;
- Design and implement innovative programmes that effectively initiate and maintain the necessary services at the local level;
- Develop skills to influence young people towards a "Culture of Peace";
- Create a vanguard of conflict mediators and negotiators in the States - Encourage multicultural communication and collaboration among young people.
