Thiproduct (biofortified orange maize) has been designed and developed for Kids, preschool children, malnourished children, and even pregnant and lactating women. This product mainly deals with health issues pertaining to vitamin A deficiency which is very common among the poor societies as preformed sources of vitamin A which include; eggs, meat and cheese are very expensive to be purchased by these impoverished families. Vitamin A deficiency is very dangerous especially among children as it can lead to infectious diseases and blindness. In Malawi, vitamin A deficiency is also a critical issue as poverty levels are very high and has forced government to start supplying hospital with vitamin A supplements as this is the only available alternative for the moment.
