Pitch to AWiM-UNEP Africa Environment Reporting Program 2022

The African Women in Media (AWiM) organization, is calling for pitches for stories that focus on the gendered aspects of environmental issues in Africa. The call comes in the frame of the “AWiM/ UNEP Environmental Journalism Media Campaign” project.
Women journalists working in any medium, based in African countries are eligible to apply. Applications have to be submitted in English. Also, the AWiM encourages pitches from freelance reporters and all types of media organizations, international, national, local, and community-based.
Moreover, the organizers define that ten pitches will be selected each month, while a total of 60 story grants are expected to be awarded during the duration of the project.

The commissioned journalists will get free training on environmental reporting solutions, and gender angles of environmental issues reporting. They will also get editorial coaching and $100 towards the selected story.

The stories have to be verified, fact-checked, and include quality images.
