#MEET Agritechture

This is a short interview we conducted with Ghislain Takam, the founder of “Agritechture”. If you like the concept of this idea and would like to vote for it, click HERE.

  1. What is your background? (Nationality, age, education, field of work).

I am a 28 year old Cameroonian holder of a Master of Science in Molecular Biotechnology. Field of work: Biotechnology and web development.

  1. Describe your idea or project in two sentences.

Life and nature quickly evolves, but techniques and technology applied in agriculture do not follow the trend. Agritechture brings the “technology" most needed by farmers in resource-limited areas transforming African agriculture into a business science.

  1. What are the benefits you take from the Entrepreneurship Campus?

The happiness to see that hope is metamorphosing into actual change with the many interesting projects on the platform. I get a lot more inspiration to improve on my projects as well. I find a great percentage of intelligent and wise people, with the opportunity to get in touch with them.

  1. What motivates you to be an entrepreneur?

The ambition to make positive and massive global impact is my utmost goal in life. The uncertainty and hope when carrying a project are some of the things are crave for as an adventurous person. I see a lot of problems that keep worsening with time and I seek to deploy my concepts and conception of certain things to contribute to solutions against some of these global problems. I enjoy the autonomy in entrepreneurship and I aspire to be like my model Elon Musk (serial entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla), a man with no limit and who makes things happen the way they are in his mind despite the challenges.

  1. Imagine you have ‚supreme power’ to create and innovate: how would your world look like? What changes would you like to make in your community and/or in the world? Share your thoughts from a ‚supreme power’ and entrepreneur standpoint.

The major problems I personally stand against are poverty and hunger, which if solved will serve as drive for massive global development in various sectors. A world of self-sufficient people is definitely prone to development as more genius would be uplifted in people whose basic needs are satisfied. Think of it... when you have no preoccupation, you think and reason better. I will reduce these problems by creating a Management and Control System for Efficiency. This system simply makes us of cutting edge technology/algorithms and human experts in various fields evaluate the use of any resource (human, financial, energy, etc) and thus ensure optimal/efficient use of resources in every field.

A successful practical solution would be to start by reducing inefficiency from the aspects directly involved with poverty and hunger, including:

-archaic agriculture (production, marketing and wastage), and

-unemployment (difficult access of employers to perfect match for a job and inefficient utilization of available labor), so that resources are better used for better results.

A solution directly providing cutting edge affordable technological/scientific support to farmers would improve the productivity and income, of farmers who are uneducated or uninformed at the prospect of a technology-assisted agriculture. Also, I think every person has a talent or great aptitude in at least one thing, so developing and deploying a platform to employ people of any walk of life will be a great contribution in this light.

  1. What would you say to potential voters who may be reading your interview?

I think there is no good or bad innovation but what is important is the context, the environment and the time of implementation. At this time the world faces problems from several aspects, I think it will be wise to invest in aspects that (will) deal directly or indirectly to a greater number of this problems. Vote for Agritechture and a man who can drive a global change. Thank you.
